Elements of Style Teal Brag Book

I've had a few requests from Hostesses to do my Bird Brag Book project at their workshops, and I'm happy to oblige!  I love brag books because they are an quick way to create a cherished keepsake of special events and they make wonderful (and inexpensive!) gifts for friends and family.

I've used my favorite set (I never thought I would love it so much) from the Summer Mini to update the look of the brag book—Elements of Style.

Elements of Style Teal Brag Book (2)

The inside of the brag book has five Clear Envelopes (they are only $4.95 for a package of 50) to hold 4×6" photos. You can see the complete Brag Book Tutorial for the basic construction.

For this version, I used a combination of Chocolate Chip, Taken With Teal, Bermuda Bay, Old Olive and Whisper White card stock.  I'm really gonna miss these pretty teal colors when they are gone June 30.  At least I'm having fun playing with them now…*sniff*

Cover Details: I used the vine image to randomly stamp the background pattern with Taken With Teal ink.  The featured floral image is stamped with Chocolate Chip, then colored and shaded with Watercolor Pencils and Blender Pens.  The hummingbird is stamped in Chocolate Chip on white and cut out.  The floral piece is popped up, so half of the hummingbird is popped up and the other half is adhere directly to the floral piece with SNAIL. (I didn't have to try to cut foam to fit under his skinny bill this time!)

The sentiment is from the same set, which fits the brag book theme very well, don't you think?  I colored it with Stampin' Write Markers, punched with the Large Oval and layered on an Old Olive Scallop Oval punch.  The Eyelet Border Punch, Clear Rhinestones, and 1/4" Chocolate Grosgrain ribbon add the finishing touches.

Have you got your Brag on?

If you haven't yet, you really should try your hand at your own brag
book!  Several of my customers have purchased the supplies to make brag books on their own for all sorts of occasions!  Wouldn't they be great for:

  • Teacher appreciation gifts at the end of the school year
  • Bridal attendant gifts filled with pictures of the bridal party
  • Vacation snapshots as souvenirs for the vacationers
  • Graduation keepsakes filled with friends' photos and goodbye notes
  • Co-worker gifts for a job well-done, let them fill it themselves
  • For grandparents with photos of the grandkids

And soon, I'll be posting another version that I'm creating for a girls'
birthday party craft. Who will you make your brag book for?  I'd love to see what you create!
