Wow! It sure feels like Fall has arrived this weekend! I don't mind. It's my favorite season! Can you believe that last week my front yard looked like this:
Raking in AUGUST?! I think it is my birch tree saying it's severely thirsty, but still! I wasn't mentally prepared to deal with a yard full of leaves! Guess it's time to pull out the jeans and sweatshirts, and lawn bags, again!
In honor of the change in the air, I used the cool Embedded Impressions technique to create a couple of autumn pretties!
I used the Leaves #2 Big Shot Die to create the leaves in Cajun Craze, More Mustard and Early Expresso. After adhering them to the Old Olive card stock, I ran it through the Big Shot with the Lattice Impressions Folder. I'm still so "impressed" with this technique…makes it look just like a solid sheet of decorative paper! I'm thinking I need to try it with Snowflakes, but let's wait a bit before we push into winter, shall we?!
For the sentiment, I stamped a phrase from the Word Play stamp set, then embossed it with the Lattice Folder to match. You'll notice that I only embossed the edges of the white piece on the second card; the words are not embossed. I liked the look of that!
This simple card is accented with the 1/8" Expresso Taffeta Ribbon and Olive Bright Buttons. This time, I cut a skinny edge off of retired Mustard grosgrain ribbon for my button ties.
Too Late—You know when you're finished with a card, and you immediately know what you shoulda done to make it better? Well, my Shoulda Moment revealed that the leaves would have looked cooler if I had spritzed them with some Smooch Spritz, or at the very least, stamped on the leaves or background. It's a little too plain for my taste. What would you have done to jazz it up a bit?
Now, I'm off to select a winner of the Two Cool Cards Contest!
Have a great Labor Day holiday weekend!
