Today, I'm featuring the card that I created for our recent Too Cool Demo Team swap.  It's a little non-traditional, but I think it's a great mix of both cute and elegant!  Cute AND elegant?!  Is that even possible?  Well, I'll let you be the judge…

I've always felt a little weird about using too much black on Christmas cards…it just didn't seem like an appropriate color for the holiday.  But, I really love the look of this card and I think that it suits the season just right because it's fun & festive!

Background Basics—I started with a 4-3/4" x 3-1/2" piece of Very Vanilla card stock that I texture embossed with the Large Polka Dot Folder.  I wrapped some 1/8" Silver Ribbon around that layer and tied it in a double knot faux-bow.  Then, I used Sticky Strip to adhere it to a 5" x 3-3/4" piece of Silver Glimmer Paper, and adhered it all to the Basic Black card base. 
 
TIP: I was using the retired Silver Glimmer Paper, which looks fabulous with Very Vanilla.  If you use the new Silver Glimmer Paper, which is a little darker and cooler colored silver, I would recommend pairing that with Whisper White.
 
Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the sentiment from the Good Greetings stamp set in Memento Black  Ink onto Very Vanilla card stock, then punched it out with the Modern Label Punch and popped it up with Dimensionals.

Festival of Trees Forest—Are these little trees adorable, or what?  The two whimsical trees in the front are stamped with the Festival of Trees photopolymer set in the Memento Black Ink, then punched with the coordinating Tree Punch.  I used the Tree Punch to also create a Basic Black tree shape for the tree in the back.  The stamped trees are popped with Dimensionals.

What really MAKES this card, though, is the sweet, hand-cut, Cherry Cobbler cardinal, also from the Festival of Trees set!  Love this little pop of color!  So cute!

Elegant vs. Cute?  So, what do you think?  Which is it?  The black & vanilla with silver accents creates a lovely, sparkly, elegant background.  And the whimsical trees and sentiment, large polka dots background and little birdie all add the cuteness.  It truly is a little bit of both, and they complement each other so well in this card!  Whichever it is, I love it?  Let me know what you think!
