Healing hugs floating frames pair - two cool

Healing Hugs Floating Frames You're The Best Cards

For the first pair of cards I shared on my Facebook LIVE, I CASEd the beautiful Project Sheet by Lee Conrey that I shared last week.  I used Glad Press & Seal to help with this technique.  I love how the background is die-cut with the Rectangle Stitched dies to create a pair of two cool cards!  Let's take a look at the details…and you can watch how to do it on the Facebook LIVE Replay video above.

Assembling The Background—I started by stamping the Healing Hugs flower 5 times in retiring Berry Burst ink onto Whisper Whisper cardstock.  I also stamped the leaves image 5 times in Pear Pizzazz ink.  Then, I fussy-cut the images and arranged them onto a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Once I had all the pieces in place the way I liked them, I laid a piece of Glad Press & Seal over the top, pressing just enough to keep the images in place on the background.  I used my Paper Snips to carefully trim the excess images that were hanging off the edge of the background.

Floating Frame—Next, I ran the piece through the Big Shot with the Rectangle Stitched die to create a frame and inside piece.  I carefully pulled the Press & Seal sheet apart from the background frame with the images attached. After adding Dimensionals and peeling off the backing papers from all of them, I laid the background back over the popped up images while they were sticky-side-up.  I trimmed any images that might be sticking out from the edge, then adhered the layer onto a Rich Razzleberry card base. This step will make more sense if you watch it in action on the video.

Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the A Big Thank You sentiment in Berry Burst ink onto a Whisper White Rectangle Stitched die-cut, then popped it up onto a Pear Pizzazz Rectangle Stitched die-cut.  It's mounted in the center of the frame.

Finishing Touches—I finished by adding pretty Pearl Jewels in all of the negative spaces on the frame.  I also added an Old Olive 1/8" Sheer Ribbon bow to the top of the greeting with a Glue Dot.

Two Cool—I used the inside of the die-cut frame to create another card.  This time I used the same technique to float the images onto the Rectangle Stitched background, then adhered that onto another larger Whisper White Rectangle Stitched die-cut.  It's all mounted onto a retiring Powder Pink card base.

Finishing Touches—I stamped an Old Olive Amazing Life sentiment onto a 1/2" strip of Whisper White, trimmed the ends and adhered to the flowers with SNAIL adhesive.

Finishing Touches—I finished by adding lots of Pearl Jewels in the negative spaces between the flowers.

First Frost Floating Frames You're The Best Cards

For the second pair of cards, I tried the First Frost stamp set, so I could die-cut the images, rather than fussy-cut.  I found that although the images were easier to cut, the technique was a little more challenging because the images were smaller than the Healing Hugs images.  You end up having to cut the Dimensionals into smaller pieces to make it work.  The result is spectacular, though so it was worth the extra effort!

Assembling The Images—I stamped the larger First Frost flower 5 times in Berry Burst, the smaller flower about 8 times in Highland Heather and Flirty Flamingo and the leaves 4 times in Pool Party.  I arranged the elements onto a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Whisper White cardstock, then added the Press & Seal over the top, trimming the excess along the edges. Like the card above, I die-cut the layer with the Rectangle Stitched dies for the frame and inside pieces.

Floating Background—After floating the frame images on the background, I layered it onto a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock and mounted the layers onto a Highland Heather card base.

Finishing Touches—I stamped the A Big Thank You greeting in Gorgeous Grape ink onto a 1-1/2" x 2-1/2" piece of Whisper White, then layered onto a 1-5/8" x 2-5/8" piece of Berry Burst and popped up with Dimensionals. I finished with Pearl Jewels accents and a Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle bow on the top of the sentiment, attached with a Glue Dot.

Two Cool—I created the focal point using the inside of the frame, layered onto a 2-3/8" x 3-3/4" piece of Berry Burst cardstock, mounted onto a Whisper White card base.

Finishing Touches—I finished by stamping the A Big Thank You sentiment in Gorgeous Grape, adding Pearls between the floating elements and tying some Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon around the card front at the fold.

What do you think of this technique?  Which stamp set did you like best?  Do you like the frame or the inside look best? Share your comments.
