Floral Charm You Made My Day Card

The pretty sketched images from the Charming Day stamp set are so fun to color! In my class, I experimented with light & airy coloring to match the floral patterns in the DSP on some cards. On this card, I took a different approach, laying down the Stampin’ Blends Marker color with bolder strokes and in deeper colors. It makes for a more dramatic focal point that is truly eye-catching!

Background Basics

I started this fun-fold with a 5-1/2″ x 7-1/4″ Night of Navy card base. I adhered a 1-1/4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Floral Charm Designer Series Paper to the inside edge of the card. Then, I embossed a 2-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Night of Navy cardstock with the floral pattern from the Glass & Garden Embossing Folder Pack. It’s adhered with SEAL to the shortened card front.

Floral Focal Point

I created a focal point foundation with a Basic White Everyday Arches die-cut label, attached to the card front with SEAL Adhesive.

I stamped the Charming Day focal point flower image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Basic White cardstock, then colored it with Stampin’ Blends Markers. The leaves are colored with Light & Dark Lost Lagoon and Night of Navy Blends. I colored the entire leaf with the lighter color, then outlined the leaf and vein with the darker color. No blending this time, for a different, bold look.

The flower is colored in its entirety with Light Bubble Bath Blends. Then I added Light and Dark Berry Burst color to the outer edges of the petals, rather than the inner shading that I usually do. Again, a little different look. I did a little bit of shading with Dark Bubble Bath to smooth out the edges a bit. The image was then die-cut with the coordinating Charming Day die and popped up with Dimensionals.

Sweet Sentiment

I stamped the Charming Day sentiment in Night of Navy onto a Basic White Stylish Shapes small banner die-cut, popping it up with a combination of Dimensional edges and SEAL.

Finishing Touches

I tied some Secret Sea Faux Linen Ribbon around the card front into a double-knot. I added a couple of Night of Navy Charming Shimmer Faceted Dots next to the floral focal point. I felt like I needed a bit more shimmer to off-set the dots, so I used my Wink of Stella to add a bit of glimmer to the “bow” part of the ribbon. Can you see it in the photo? Did you know you could add Wink of Stella to ribbon? So, so fun!
