Foxy Friends Raccoon Easel Fold Card
Easel cards are so much fun because the recipient can display the hand-crafted greeting on their desktop, table or book shelf, continuing to bring them joy over & over again! I designed this Foxy Friends easel card with a raccoon, but you could easily change out the stamped character to all kinds of animals like a fox, squirrel, cat, wolf and more! Creating The Easel Fold—Just like the basic Z-Fold card I shared last week, I started with a 4-1/4" x 11" Pool Party card base, scored along the 11" side at the 2-3/4" and 5-1/2" marks. Fold the card in half like a regular card, then fold the bottom front panel toward the inside of the card to create the easel. We'll add a popped up greeting at the bottom to help it stand up.
Background Basics—The front of the easel starts with a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Smoky Slate that's adhered with strong Tear & Tape Adhesive to the BOTTOM PANEL ONLY on the card front. The top panel is not adhered, so it can be free to swing into place when it's in "easel" position.
I added a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" Smoky Slate background textured with the Woodgrain Embossing Folder. For some eye-catching color, I adhered a 1-1/2" x 4-3/4" piece of A Little Foxy Designer Series Paper that was punched at the bottom with the Banner Triple Punch.
Raccoon Focal Point—I stamped the Foxy Friends basic walking animal image in Smoky Slate onto Whisper White card stock, then die-cut it using the 2-7/8" circle from the Layering Circles Framelits. I made the critter into a raccoon by stamping the raccoon mask and striped tail images in Basic Gray ink stamped off once to make it a little lighter. His face is finished with a Basic Black eyes & nose stamp. I layered the circle onto a Calypso Coral scallop circle, also die-cut from the Layering Circles Framelits. It's popped up with Dimensionals.
Finishing Touches—I created a second circle embellishment by stamping the mushrooms in Calypso Coral & Pool Party inks on Whisper White card stock, then punched with the 1" Circle Punch and layered on a Pool Party scallop circle from Layering Circles Framelits!
I finished off the front with a Pool Party Satin Stitched Ribbon bow, attached with a Glue Dot.
Sweet Sentiment Easel Catch—I adhered a 4" x 3/4" strip of more A Little Foxy paper to the bottom of the inside of the card. I stamped a Bunch of Blossoms greeting in Memento Black ink onto a 2-1/2" x 1" piece of Whisper White that I fishtailed with Paper Snips. The Foxy Friends set does not include sentiments, so I designed a this card to give you plenty of room to add greetings you may already have on hand.
The key to this element is that you pop it up with Dimensionals, so that it becomes the "catch" for the easel stand. Too Cool!
Complete Supplies List—"Clear" means a rubber stamp on a clear block. "Photopolymer" is see-thru.
