Foxy Friends Sweet Skunk Z-Fold Card
Talk about sweet! I love this adorable skunk with the little flower! The Fox Builder Punch makes it easy to create all kinds of cute critters like this one!
All of the cards from my Foxy Friends Class Kit have a special, fancy-fold opening. This card is made in a classic Z-Fold style—easy & fun!
Background Basics—I started with a 11" x 4-1/4" Pool Party card base, scored along the 11" side at the 2-3/4" and 5-1/2" marks. Fold the card in half like a regular card, then fold back the front and use a Bone Folder to give it a nice, flat crease.
Card Front—I added a 2" x 4" piece of decorative paper from the A Little Foxy Designer Series Paper Stack to the front panel. The class kit comes with a 1/2 pack of that DSP, so you can select the pattern you like best!
I made the little border by embossing a 1/2" x 4" strip of Smoky Slate card stock with the Festive Texture Impressions Folder, positioning it carefully to line up the two raised edges. Love that little texture detail!
Center Medallion—I used the Layering Circles Framelits to create the center foundation for the skunk. The 2-5/8" diameter Pool Party circle is layered onto a 3" diameter Smoky Slate scallop circle with SNAIL. I popped the medallion up on the left side only with Dimensionals, letting the right side extend out over the inside of the card.
Sweet Skunk—I used the Fox Builder Punch to punch all the parts to create the skunk: one punch from Basic Black card stock, two punches from Whisper White card stock. After it's assembled, the skunk is popped up with Dimensionals.
- The white face was stamped with the eyes & nose image from Foxy Friends, then adhered to the black head.
- The white chest is another face punch cut in half, then adhered to a black body shape.
- The white tuft on her head is one of the punched pieces.
- The Calypso Coral flower is punched with the Tree Builder Punch, then topped with a Rhinestone.
- I double-punched the white tail piece so that it would create a stripe on the black tail. Here's how I did it:
I lined up the direction of the tail with the Fox Builder Punch, then attached the white tail onto a scrap strip of card stock with a dab of SNAIL.
I inserted the tail into the punch, then positioned it so that only part of the tail was showing to trim off part of the shape. Take care to line up the two tail ends, so you get a nice shape on the tips.
Inside Décor—I added 5-1/4" x 3/4" strip of A Little Foxy DSP along the bottom of the a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of Whisper White.
Sweet Sentiment—The Foxy Friends stamp set does not come with any sentiments, so I designed the cards to be used with sentiments that you may already have on hand. I chose to use the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set for all of my sentiments, and this one is stamped in Memento Black Ink. I added some hearts by coloring part of one of the Foxy Friends images with a Pool Party marker.
Complete Supplies List—"Clear" means a rubber stamp on a clear block. "Photopolymer" is see-thru.
