Ghostly Owl Punches

Remember when I posted about how you can use the wing from the Bird Punch to make pretty punched tulips?  Or, when I used the Butterfly Punch to create lovely watercolored pansies?  It always amazes me how stamping artists can take a new shape and turn it into something completely different than was originally intended.

As with the other punches that have been introduced by Stampin' Up!, I'm starting to discover just how versatile the Owl Punch can be.  For example, with a couple nips and a 180° turn, and your owls can become cute little ghosts!

Aren't they simply BOO-tiful?   I've seen several cute examples of these hauntingly cute "owls" on my demo website and I had to try them out for myself.  Personally, I think the Wiggle Eyes make all the difference.  I wish I had some different sizes of colors of eyes to use to make them all have more distinct personalities.  Instead, I used a Basic Black Marker to draw a variety of expressive mouths, and that did the trick.

Did you notice that I tried out a different card size?  I tend to get stuck in my standard 4-1/4 x 5-1/2" dimensions, but what can I say?  Sometimes you just need to change it up!  These cards have a 3-1/4" x 6-1/2" canvas, and are the perfect size for the Small Open-End Envelopes from Stampin' Up!

Card Ingredients:  No special techniques are used.  Supplies include the Owl Punch, Wicked Fun Specialty Paper, House of Haunts stamp set, 1/2" Circle Punch, Rhinestone Jewels, Poly-Stitched Ribbon, Concord Crush and Old Olive card stock, Concord Crush Classic Pad, and Basic Black Marker.

Tomorrow I'll be posting another Spooky treat bag that we made my Stamp Club last week.  Stay tuned…
