Hi Stamping Friends!
I've been discovering how much fun it is to play with washi tape! Have you ever tried it?
Washi tape is a paper tape, similar to masking tape, that removes easily from most surfaces. Stampin' Up! has two packages of this versatile, decorative tape in the new catalog with three designs in each package: Gingham Garden and Epic Day This and That.
For today's project, I used the Gingham Garden Washi Tape with the Herringbone Technique for a cheerful "woven" background.
I started with an Island Indigo card base with a 5-1/2" x 1-1/2" piece of Melon Mambo, texture embossed with the Square Lattice Folder, across the bottom. The 1" wide yellow strip was created with the Gingham Stampin' Around Wheel inked in Daffodil Delight on Whisper White card stock.
Washi Herringbone Tips: I started by laying three lines of the washi tape across a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of Whisper White card stock on the diagonal. Then I continued adding three more lines perpendicular to the first three. After each three lines, I'd switch directions, and I repeated that until the whole piece was full.
Then, I die-cut the herringbone background with the Top Note Die.
I snipped off a "flat" end of the tape each time I applied it to keep the lines crisp and flush.
I tied a 3/8" White Taffeta around the Top Note for a cute accent.
The Oh, Hello sentiment is inked in Island Indigo on Whisper White, then punched with the Extra-Large Oval Punch. I used two Melon Mambo punches, created the new Artisan Label Punch, to layer behind the words to make them pop. Rhinestone Jewels accents finish it off.

I have 3 rolls and been wondering how to use them and what makes Washi Tape better than ribbon. This card shows that with the ribbon it would be much bulkier. Easy to mail with the tape. So for cards, the Washi tape would be great.
