Birthday surprise - two cool

Today's card design is perfect for ANY birthday—any age, any gender, and during any season!  Best of all, it's quick & easy to create, so you can make several to have on hand at a moment's notice!

Background Basics—My card base is Night of Navy and I added a 5-1/2" x 3/4" strip of Silver Glimmer Paper across the front with Sticky Strip.  Hey!  Silver Glimmer Paper is on sale as part of the Weekly Deals, by the way! I was using up my retired lighter color Silver Glimmer Paper.  The new version is a little darker silver…see it here: NEW Silver Glimmer Paper.

Glittering Birthday Sentiment—I stamped the big Birthday Surprise sentiment first in Night of Navy Ink onto a 5-1/8" x 3-7/8" piece of Whisper White.  I didn't want a lot of the background images overlapping and conflicting with the sentiment, so by stamping it first I could stamp around it easily.
After all of the balloons were stamped, I added Dazzling Diamond glitter by coloring over each letter with a 2-Way Glue Pen.  You can kind of see the sparklies on this photo, but they are way better in person!

Balloon Background—I randomly stamped the Birthday Surprise sketched balloon images on across the background in a diagonal pattern using Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo and Old Olive inks.  I tried to have odd numbers of each color for a pleasing-to-the-eye look.

Once the stamping and glittering were done, I matted this layer on a 5-1/4' x 4" piece of Melon Mambo and adhered it to the card front with Dimensionals.

Birthday surprise - presents

Another thing I love about this simple card design is that you can substitute any of the classic birthday images from the Birthday Surprise to change up the look!

The party hats and birthday cupcakes would look just as awesome!  And, they would make a cute, matching gift set of birthday cards, too!  Hmmm…I just might have to do that!

I used the birthday presents for this vertical version.  Wouldn't those gifts look great on a Christmas-themed card, too?!
