Hi Stamping Friends!
One of my favorite techniques to do with leaf images is sponging on different colors to make them look like real leaves. Today's cards show two color combinations to try with this fun technique. You can create both of these pretty cards when you qualify for a FREE 5-Card LIVE Class Kit by placing a qualifying order this week!

Gorgeous Leaves Sponged Leaves Cards
The Gorgeous Leaves stamp set is perfect for creating multicolor leaves with just a little sponging. These cards don't have a lot of layers, but the sponged leaves are stunning as the focal points. I encourage you to experiment with different color combinations…you'll be amazed with the cool looks you will discover!
4"Background Basics—This vertical card base starts with a 4-1/4" x 11" piece of Soft Suede, scored at the 5-1/2" mark. I adhered a 4-1/4" piece of Cork Specialty Paper across the bottom for some lovely natural texture. The look of cork is perfect for fall projects and this specialty paper is fantastic! It looks and feels like cork, but it's a really thin paper, very similar to a regular sheet of Designer Series Paper, so it cuts easily, adheres beautifully and doesn't crumble. You need to try it!
Next, I added a 4-1/4" x 1/2" piece of the gold Brushed Metallic Specialty Paper. This is another pack of paper that is perfect for autumn projects. It includes three 12" x 12" sheets: one each of Gold, Copper and Bronze colors, each with a subtle lined print. It's gorgeous!
Focal Point Background—I inked up the Gorgeous Leaves speckled image in Sahara Sand ink, stamped off once and stamped on the top of a 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" piece of Basic White. I added an Inspired Thoughts sentiment to the bottom right of the piece in Soft Suede ink. That stamp set is all sentiments and goes perfectly with the Gorgeous Leaves set. I layered the stamped background onto a 2-3/4" x 3-3/4" piece of Cajun Craze and adhered it to the card front.
Sponged Leaves—To create the multicolor leaves, I inked up the Gorgeous Leaves maple leaf rubber stamp with a light color…Bumblebee. Next, I used the finger-tip Sponge Daubers to dab on a little ink directly onto the rubber: I added Pumpkin Pie in three places on the leaf, then added some Cajun Craze ink along the edges of the leaf in two places. I stamped it onto Basic White scrap, then die-cut it with the corresponding image die. I cleaned off my stamp and repeated the process for the second leaf, then popped both up with Dimensionals.
Finishing Touches—I finished up by two of the gold Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots, which coordinates beautifully with the Brushed Metallic paper.
Good News & Bad News About Brushed Metallic Dots—The Brushed Metallic Dots have been so popular that they are currently on backorder with a tentative in-stock date of October 25. Thankfully, I do have enough dots that I should be able to cover the Gorgeous Leaves LIVE Class Kits that I'm sending out. (Update from the video: I mentioned that I might run out, but have since found a friend with some extra that I can access, if needed. Yay!)
Two Cool—For my second version, I wanted to try another color combination that wasn't traditional for fall. I thought this palette was perfect for a sympathy or thinking of you card.
Background Basics—This time, a start with a vertical-opening Night of Navy card base. I embossed a 4-1/4" x 1" piece of Gray Granite with the Star Crossed Embossing Folder and added a 4-1/4" x 1/2" piece of Silver Foil Specialty Paper along the top of it. This is another pack of paper with really cool paper options: one brushed silver, one textured slate and one matte silver.
The sentiment is stamped in Misty Moonlight ink.
Stamped Leaves—I started with Pool Party ink on the whole stamp, then sponged Soft Succulent and Misty Moonlight ink directly onto the rubber before stamping onto Basic White cardstock. Oooh…I'm loving those blues! I finished with a couple of Pool Party gems from the Holiday Rhinestones pack.
