Happiest of Birthdays Blocked Background Cards

Hi Stamping Friends!

Today I'm sharing my favorite two cards from my Happiest of Birthdays LIVE Class last week! I used a technique that I haven't used in a long time…coloring directly on the stamp with Stampin' Write Markers!  I love the way you can add multicolored sentiments with this fun technique!  See it in action in the LIVE Class Replay linked below! And enjoy making one of these cards in the 5-Card Kit or both cards with the 10-Card kit! All the details are below, too!

Happiest Birthday Blocked Background Cards
I absolutely love these blocked background cards!  I can't take the credit for the design, as I CASEd it from a lady named Rachelle on Etsy. It thought they were so fun and I hope you do, too!

Happiest of Birthdays blocking - coral
Background Basics—This card begins with a 4" x 5-1/4" Calypso Coral background that's decorated with blocks of Playing With Patterns Designer Series Papers. The blocks measure: 2-1/4" x 2"; 2-1/4" x 3"; 1-1/2" x 3"; and 1-1/2" x 2". I selected a multicolor pattern first, then picked out three more papers that coordinated with it. After adhering the blocks onto the background, I tied some Playing With Patterns Purple Posy ombré ribbon around the layer and mounting it onto a Thick Whisper White card base.

Sweet Sentiment—I colored the sentiment with Stampin' Write Markers directly onto the rubber using Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry and Highland Heather. Then, I huffed on the stamp to re-wet the ink and stamped it onto a 2-3/4" x 3-1/2" piece of Whisper White cardstock. I layered that onto a 2-7/8" x 3-5/8" piece of Highland Heather cardstock and popped it up with Dimensionals onto the card front.

Finishing Touches—I finished by adding some coral colored Artistry Blooms Sequins around the sentiment. So cool!

Happiest of Birthdays blocking - misty

Two Cool—For my second version, I selected different Playing With Patterns papers with a different color combo. This time, I flipped the blocks around a bit and mounted them onto a Purple Posy layer. I tied them with the same ribbon.

Sweet Sentiment—I colored this sentiment with Misty Moonlight, Crushed Curry and Highland Heather Stampin' Write Markers and layered it onto a Misty Moonlight mat. It's decorated with some coordinating Playing With Patterns Enamel Dots.
