Hi Stamping Friends!

I've been taking a closer look at some of the individual stamp sets in the Occasions Catalog that sometimes get overlooked because of all of the larger, coordinating suites & bundles.  One adorable stamp set that has caught my eye is the Hedgehugs stamp set with cute little hedgehogs!  Today, I'm sharing a couple of swap cards that I received with this super-cute set!

Kim's Hedgehugs Today Is Special Card

Kim Vogel created this sweet Hedgehugs birthday card with a simple, neutral color scheme of Calypso Coral, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla. 
 
Background Basics—Kim started by stamping the mushrooms image in Crumb Cake ink across the bottom of a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Crumb Cake card stock.  She also stamped one of the flowers on the top right.  Before mounting it onto the vertically-folded Calypso Coral card base, she added a Calypso Coral ribbon from the Sale-a-Bration Shimmer Ribbon Pack.  I love the way she tied a knot in the ribbon before securing the ends to the back with Tear & Tape Adhesive.  You can earn that ribbon for FREE with your $50 order during Sale-a-Bration thru March 31, 2018.

Happy Hedgehogs—Kim stamped the two hedgehogs in Early Espresso ink onto a 3-3/4" x 2-3/4" Very Vanilla layer.  She also stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso on the top right before mounting it onto a 4" x 3" piece of Early Espresso. 
 
Finishing Touches—Kim finished by stamping another Hedgehugs sentiment in Early Espresso, along with a Calypso Coral flower, onto Very Vanilla scrap.  She punched it out with the 1/1/2" Circle Punch, then layered it onto a Calypso Coral 1/3/4" Circle punch and an Early Espresso 2" Circle punch.  This greeting is popped up with Dimensionals.

Marsha's Hedgehugs Today Is Special Card

I received a second swap card from Marsha Henry, who added some cool coloring to her Hedgehugs card.


Happy Hedgehogs—Marsha stamped the tree stump in Soft Suede, then added the two Hedgehugs hedgehogs in Early Espresso ink onto the 5" x 3-3/4" layer of Whisper White.  Next, she used the Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends Markers to add some shading underneath both hedgehogs.

 
Cool Colored Mushrooms—Check out the cool technique Marsha used on the mushrooms!  She stamped the trio of mushrooms in Sahara Sand ink, then used Stampin' Blends Markers to color them in.  The stems of the mushrooms were colored with Crumb Cake Blends, then she colored some light Old Olive Blends around the base of the mushrooms for grass and added a few strands of grass in dark Old Olive.  I love those little details that really add interest to the card!

Fun Flowers—Marsha used regular Stampin' Write Markers to color Real Red and Old Olive ink directly only to the flower images in order to get that two-color image.  She colored the flower that the hedgehog is holding to match.  Once the stamping was done, Marsha adhered the panel onto a 5-1/4" x 4" Real Red layer, then mounted it onto a Lemon Lime Twist card base. 

Sweet Sentiment—Lastly, Marsha stamped the greeting in Lemon Lime Twist ink onto a Whisper White scrap cardstock, then die-cut it with the Layering Ovals Framelits.  The Real Red and Lemon Lime Twist scalloped ovals are also die-cut with the same framelits.  All layers of the oval are adhered with SNAIL.
