Hey Love Punny Valentine's Cards

Hi Stamping Friends,

I don't make a lot of Valentine's Day cards, but I sure got some cute ones from a couple of swaps I participated in recently. Today, I'm sharing two sweet and punny cards featuring the adorable characters from the Hey Love stamp set!

Hey Love Ape Over You Valentine's Card

I received this cute Hey Love Valentine's swap card from Kelly Acheson. I love how she used simple stamping and just a few cute accents to make a sweet card that's easy to duplicate.

Awesome Ape—Kelly stamped the Hey Love ape in Memento Tuxedo Black at the bottom of a 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" Whisper White cardstock layer. Next, she stamped the Forever Lovely cluster of hearts three times over the top of the ape in Flirty Flamingo ink. I love how she added the sentiment pun amid the hearts in Memento Black ink, then spotlighted it with the scallop heart frame die-cut with the Be Mine Stitched Framelits. So cute!

Background Basics—Kelly layered the stamped piece onto a 3-5/8" x 4-7/8" mat in Basic Black. She adhered a little Black Shimmer Satin Ribbon behind the layer, creating a little tab that adds interest and texture. Finally, she popped up the focal point with Dimensionals onto the Smoky Slate card base.

Finishing Touches—It's all in the details! Kelly colored in the heart the ape is holding with the Flirtly Flamingo Light Stampin' Blends Marker. She added a Heart Epoxy Droplet over the top to add a little shine and draw attention to the heart. How clever!

Hey Love Stinkin' Sweet Valentine's Card

Oh.My.Goodness! How adorable is this Hey Love card created by Lorri Heiling? It's SO adorable!

Sweet Sentiment—Or should I say "stinkin' sweet" sentiment! Lorri stamped the Hey Love pun in VersaMark ink on the Basic Black card base, careful to position it to leave plenty of room for the border frame. She heat embossed the sentiment with White Embossing Powder, heating it with a Heat Tool until glossy and smooth.

Background Basics—Lorri die-cut the multi-heart die-cut with the Be Mine Stitched Framelits and adhered them with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Next, she created a cute shadow box look by die-cutting a Real Red cardstock frame using two sizes of dies from the Rectangles Stitched Framelits. She popped up the border with Dimensionals over a Basic Black card base. Oooh, I love that look! Can't wait to try it on some cards of my own!

Scentsational Skunk—Lorri stamped the Hey Love skunk in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a 1-7/8" Stitched Shapes circle die-cut. It's colored in with Smoky Slate and Real Red Stampin' Blends Markers. She colored in the nose with a Black Stampin' Write Marker.

Delightful Details—Like Kelly's card above, Lorri added a little bit of shine to the Hey Love image. It looks like she added a dab of clear glue from the Fine-Tip Glue Pen over the black nose and let it dry…love it! She finished off the card with a tiny bow made with 1/8" Real Red Ribbon, carried over from the Holiday Catalog.
