Christmas cards are not only fun to give, they can also be amazingly affordable to create with a little planning. When you have some basic supplies, and a simple design in mind, you can create LOTS of holiday greetings in a snap—all at a surprising value!
I created this card at the Creative Convention event I attended in September. It was fast and easy to assemble, and used minimal supplies, making it a terrific choice for mass-producing for Christmas.
A Little Stamping Math
Just for fun, let's figure out what consumable supplies you would need to make 12 cards in this design:
- 6 sheets of Cherry Cobbler card stock, cut to 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" (24 sheets/package)
- 3 sheets of Whisper White card stock, cut to 5-1/4" x 4" (40 sheets/package)
- 1 sheet of Frostwood Lodge DSP, but to 3×4" (12 sheets/package)
- 60" of Cherry Cobbler Quilted Satin Ribbon, cut to 5" (360" per spool)
- Scraps of Whisper White card stock to stamp and punch the Stitched Stockings
- Scraps of Cherry Cobbler card stock to punch the cuff with Stocking Builder Punch
- 24 Silver Mini Brads (200 per package)
- 72 Dimensionals (300 per package)
Now, keep in mind, I didn't figure in SNAIL adhesive, or the cost of the Stitched Stockings & Christmas Lodge stamp sets, Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink, and the Stocking Builder Punch you would need for this exact card. I'm only looking at consumables for this one-time project, which comes to approximately $43.80 (before shipping & tax).
12 Cards = $3.65 per card (plus you'd have lots of extra card stock & supplies to use on other projects).
Now, let's consider the value of mass-producing LOTS of cards!
If you purchased just one more package of Cherry Cobbler card stock, Cherry Cobbler Quilted Satin Ribbon, and Dimensionals, you would be able to make 96 cards with this design! Wow!
Now, the cost of consumables is around $62.65 (before shipping & tax)
96 cards = 65¢ per card (and still some supplies left over)
Quite a difference with only a minimal additional investment! Too Cool!
