Home For Christmas Lunch Bag Gift Bags
These cute holiday gift bags start with a traditional brown lunch bag for the foundation…but oh, how we've dressed them up! It's a super-quick & easy bag to duplicate, so it makes a terrific option if you're in need of making some cute holiday packaging for lots of people! I had fun mixing & matching different Home For Christmas Designer Series Papers for a variety of looks.
Lunch Bag Foundation—I purchased a package of 50 lunch bags at the dollar store. Your bag size may vary, so you may need to make adjustments, if necessary. I cut the top off of the bag so that it only stood 7" high to create the gift bag base. The finished bag stands 8-1/2" high, 5" wide and 3" deep, so they hold lots of goodies!
DSP Bag Cover—I decorated the brown bag by adhering a pretty 5" x 7" holiday pattern from the Home For Christmas DSP on the front of the bag. Then I cut a coordinating smaller pattern at 5" x 12" and scored it at 3-1/2" with the Simply Scored tool to create the fold-over closure. Add SNAIL adhesive on the back side of the bag (not the DSP), then adhere the back panel of DSP to the bag. Your DSP will stand up about 1-3/4" higher than the lunch bag.
TIP: You will have to fold down the bottom gusset of the bag and re-fold it in the middle so you can adhere the back DSP to the full back-side panel. The nice thing is that the bag will easily fold flat for storage and re-use!
Securing The Closure—With the closure folded flat, punch two 1/4" holes along the top and thread through some 1/8" Silver Foil ribbon as a way to hold the flap closed. I also dangled some Silver Sequin Trim and Red Pom Pom Trim off of the Silver Ribbon to dress it up. It kind of closes like an upside-down matchbook. You simply pull up the flap to access the inside of the bag. Look at all the room in there!
Sweet Sentiment—I finished off the bag with a Embellished Ornaments sentiment stamped in Real Red ink on Whisper White card stock and punched with the 2" Circle Punch. It's layered with Dimensionals onto a 2-3/8" Silver Glimmer Scallop Circle shape. It's adhered to the bag with more Dimensionals.
Two Cool—Depending on the patterns in the Designer Series Paper pack you use, you could get 12-16 bags from each pack of paper. It all depends on how the little patterns and big patterns match up and whether some can only go in one direction. I loved the Home For Christmas papers because they offered both cute patterns like the Santas and more elegant patterns like the poinsettias.
Complete Supplies List—"Clear" means a rubber stamp on a clear block. "Photopolymer" is see-thru.
