One slanted cut and this card style has a whole new level of interest! It's easy and the perfect way to showcase those beautiful Stampin' Up! Designer Series Papers for a cool border. I was also enjoying using some of our soon-to-retire In Colors, like Seaside Spray and Purple Posy. Wow…I'm gonna miss those colors!
Background Basics—This fun opening card begins with a traditional 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" piece of Seaside Spray cardstock, scored at the 4-1/4" mark. I then used my Stampin' Trimmer to diagonally cut the card front from the top left corner to the bottom right corner. To decorate the card front, I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper, and trimmed it from the top left corner to the bottom right corner. It fits perfectly in the triangular area, and you'll have another triangle piece to create a second card…two cool!
Hydrangea Focal Point—I stamped the Hydrangea Haven hydrangea outline in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a 3" x 4" piece of Basic White. Then, I stamped the solid leaves image in Pear Pizzazz ink. For the bloom, rather than using the larger solid fill image, I used the smaller fill image and stamped it three times in Highland Heather ink going around the bloom just inside the outer edges. It gives a little different look than the other image with color that spills over the edges.
I mounted the stamped layer to a 3-1/4" x 4-1/4" Misty Moonlight layer, then popped it up onto the diagonal card front. I finished by adding a Flowers For Every Season twine bow to the flower with a Glue Dot.
Inside The Card—Like the card front DSP, I selected another pattern measuring 4" x 5-1/4" and cut it diagonally from top left to bottom right. It's adhered onto a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White cardstock, creating a small area for writing. Option: You could simply add a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of DSP to the inside, then add a 3" x 4" square piece of Basic White over it for the message area.
Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Hydrangea Haven sentiment in Memento Black ink onto a 3-3/4" x 3/4" piece of Purple Posy cardstock and adhered it with SEAL adhesive to the card front.
Two Cool—The second card begins with a Highland Heather diagonally-cut card base. I tried a different Hydrangea Hill DSP pattern on the card front, then added a Gorgeous Grape cardstock triangle, embossed with the Hammered Metal Embossing Folder, to the inside.
Hydrangea Décor—I positioned the hydrangea to the left on this card, stamping it in the same Pear Pizzazz and Highland Heather colors. Everything else is identical to the first card, except that I added a few Playing With Patterns Purple Posy Dots to cover up a little ink smudge that I had by the flower…oops!
