I Love The New Designer Frames Folders…

…and I feel like SHOUTING it to the world!

I've been working on my August Stamp Club cards for tomorrow night and, I'm especially giddy about the one we are making with the new Designer Frames Impressions Folders!  Have you seen this new item in the catalog?

Designer frames 123130L

CreativeElements04 - fran sabad
You get two 4-1/2" x 2-7/8" embossing folders in the package; one rectangle and one oval.

At Convention, I fell in love with the most gorgeous card that Fran Sabad was showing in one of her presentations. I used her design (shown at the right as a thumbnail) with similar colors and a little twist with the card opening…

I really liked her primarily Chocolate Chip color combination with just a burst of Marina Mist, but I already have another brown card for Club, so I went with a Marina Mist & Night of Navy version on a Chocolate Chip card base.  OOoohhh!  Still very pretty!

My favorite part of the oval Designer Frame is that the inside is the same size as the Extra Large Oval Punch!  Coordination, baby!  I added some Dimensionals under my Perfect Punches sentiment, so it really pops out of the embossed frame for a lovely layered feel.

The rest of the stamping is with the Creative Elements set.  I stamped off once for the sentiment so the image wouldn't compete with the words.

OK—you know I have to do Two Cool cards…

The second version has a little more Chocolate Chip and no Night of Navy, and it uses the Elements of Style stamp set.

The "thanks" from the Thank You Kindly set fits perfectly inside the punched oval.  Rather than pop it up, I adhered it directly to the inside of the frame and from a distance, you'd never even know it was a punch.  I think it's a fabulous look!

I was trying to get a closeup shot that showed the sparkly shimmer mist I sprayed on this one (click to enlarge the photo to see it).  I think my friend Carmen DeBruce has convinced me that nearly every card needs a spritz of shimmer, and like her, I may be carrying my shimmer mister with me everywhere I go!

Shimmer Mist Spray: Make your own shimmer mist spray from 1/2 teaspoon of Champagne Shimmer Mist (or any color Shimmer Mist) mixed into rubbing alchol in a travel size spray bottle.  TIP: Make sure to only mix up a little at a time, because I've had trouble with it getting clumpy if it's in the bottle too long.  I recommend mixing up fresh shimmer spritz for each new project.

But, wait!  There's a surprise to this card…

The middle panel opens up, and the back panel is a single card front!  It's not a big change, but it makes it different and interesting.  I'm trying to get out of my basic card fold rut, so it was fun to try something new!

For both insides, I stamped the ink off once before stamping onto the card stock.

I can't wait to experiment more with both of these fun Designer Frames!  The ideas are spinning around in my head!  Wheeee!
