In Color Flurry of Wishes & Perfect Pines Christmas Cards
Have you ever tried making a Christmas card in non-traditional colors? Our Too Cool Team is having a shoebox swap in November and the theme is to use non-traditional colors or a non-traditional stamp set! Talk about pushing your creativity outside the box!
I was perusing the internet to get some non-traditional seasonal inspiration and I came across some beautiful cards holiday cards in our current In Colors created by Erica Cerwin at Pink Buckaroo Designs. I knew I had to try them! She used the pretty wooden snowflake elements and gold accents. I tried a similar look with the sparkly Winter Wonderland Embellishments and silver accents. Let's take a closer look!
Background Basics—The 4" x 5-1/4" In Color background, Tip Top Taupe, is stamped with the second largest Flurry of Wishes snowflake in White Craft Ink. I love how those opaque snowflakes look on any color! After letting the ink dry thoroughly, I wrapped a piece of Whisper White Stitched Satin Ribbon around the background layer and adhered the layer onto a Whisper White card base.
Pretty Pine—I die-cut the tree from the Whisper White Corrugated Paper using the medium tree shape from Perfect Pines Framelits. That texture is awesome! I'm quickly getting addicted to this paper!
Soft Silver Loops—I love the trendy look of looping threads, twine or cording behind featured elements of the card. I added SNAIL adhesive all over the back of the tree first. Then I looped the Silver Metallic Thread around my four fingers about four times, twisted the loops into a figure 8, and applied it to the sticky back. Once it's nicely stuck down, I manipulated the loops into a pretty arrangement and put Dimensionals over the top to further hold the thread in place.
Sparkly Snowflake—I adhered a Winter Wonderland Embellishment to the pine with a couple of Glue Dots.
Two Cool—My second card uses the Mint Macaron background. This color looks especially frosty!
Sweet Sentiment—I added a Christmas Greetings Framelits die-cut in Silver Foil. I used the Fine-Tip Glue Pen to add tiny dabs of glue to the intersections of the letters to adhere it to the card front.
Finishing Touches—I finished off the card with a couple more Rhinestone Jewels floating around the outer edges of the pine tree.
Three Cool—My third version is in Delightful Dijon, which looks like a rich gold holiday color!
Four Cool—Watermelon Wonder is kind of a stretch for a holiday color, but I think it still looks great with the contrasting white snowy-white elements.
Five Cool—Cucumber Crush is probably the closest to a traditional Christmas color, so it works really well with this design.
