Oh no! The Summer Mini is nearly done—only 3 days left! So many about-to-retire stamps, so little time! I've resolved myself to the fact that I won't get to make all the cute ideas I've been thinking about making with several of the Summer Mini sets. But, at the very least, I wanted to play with the Watercolor Trio set one last time before I said goodbye to this fabulous set.
Be sure to look closely at both cards…there's gonna be a pop quiz later!
Stamp Off!
My favorite thing about the Watercolor Trio set is that it creates lovely, layered backgrounds by just stamping off again and again. On the first card, I only inked the flower design once, then kept stamping over and over until the ink was nearly gone. The second card, I wanted a fuller field of flowers, so I did the same inking process several times. (<<<Hint: This will be on your test!)
An Angie Aside: OK—I have to tell you that I laugh every time I think of "Stamp Off!" Have you ever seen The School of Rock where the class makes up the "Step Off" song? If you know what I'm talking about, try inserting the "stamp" and singing that song in true Jack Black mode!! If you've never seen the scene, check it out here and you'll never think of "Stamp Off" the same way again!
I also experimented with the Lap of Luxury Designer Series Paper for the first time. It's such an elegant combination of Concord Crush, Blushing Bride, Basic Gray, and Very Vanilla.
The Blushing Bride card stock is embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Impressions Folder. And, you know, I'm warming up to the new Poly-Stitched Ribbon. At first I thought it was a bit bulky for cards, but it adds nice texture and double-knots well. If you created an actual bow, it may be too thick for a card that you want to mail. However, the latest trend seems to be pleating and gathering (I've seen this in the Fall fashions, too), and this ribbon is excellent for that. Plus, it's the only ribbon that matches the current In-Colors! You should try it!
I attached a couple Basic Pearl Jewels to add more elegance—I can't tell you how much I love these little beauties! I could find a way to use them, or their cute Rhinestone Jewel cousins, on EVERY single project I make! Since you get 150 jewels for only $4.95, I can afford to use them on every project! These are a must-have on your next order! I promise you won't be disappointed!
The sentiment is also from Watercolor Trio. I'm sure I'll miss these the most, because I adore the beautiful flourishing style font in a size that fits perfectly in the Large Oval punch. The oval is layered on a Scallop Oval punch. I also roughed up the edges of the floral piece with the Distress Tool from the Cutter Kit.
Two Cool Cards Contest
Are you ready for your pop quiz? I thought it was high time to do another Two Cool Cards Contest, you know, where you find the differences between the two cards for a prize!
Can you find at least 7 ways that the Watercolor Trio cards above are different from each other? I've even helped you out by giving you one of the more difficult-to-see differences. Be sure to click the photos to enlarge them, that might help. There are 10 differences in all, so 7 should be no problem, right?!
ETA: The answers can now be found here.
This time the winner will receive an assortment pack of 28 sheets of 6×12" retired Designer Series Paper—that's more than a whole pack of DSP!
Here is a closeup of all of the designs you'll receive (photo #1 is of the fronts, #2 is of the backs)…
To enter, email your answers to me (use the email link in the left-hand column) by Friday, September 3, 2010. If you have at least 7 correct, you will be entered into the contest. If you guess all 10 differences correctly, you will receive two entries!
Fine print: Qualifying entries will be assigned a number in the order they are received, and the winning number will be selected will be selected by Random.org. Winner will be announced on September 4, 2010. US Residents only. Doesn't this sound official?
