In The Pines Recessed Pine Cards
The Pine Woods Dies that coordinate with the In The Pines stamp set provide all kinds of creative possibilities! I especially love the die that creates a pine "window" because it makes it easy to create beautiful recessed window cards—a favorite of mine!
Background Basics—This first card is featured in my 5-Card LIVE Class Kit and features the beautiful Brightly Gleaming Designer Series Paper, which is a returning DSP from last year's holiday collection. I started by adhering a 4" x 2" striped pattern across the bottom of a Pretty Peacock card base, and I added a 4" x 3" star patterned DSP across the top. I joined the two with a 4" x 1/2" strip of Copper Foil.
Recessed Pine—I die-cut a Very Vanilla Stitched Rectangle shape first, then die-cut the Pine Woods pine window on a second pass through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Next, I stamped an In The Pines sentiment on the bottom with Night of Navy ink before popping up the layer onto a 2-3/4" x 4-1/8" piece of Old Olive cardstock. It's adhered to the front of the card with SEAL adhesive.
Finishing Touches—I tied a bow with the 1/8" Night of Navy ribbon from the Playing With Patterns Ribbon Pack and attached it with a Glue Dot. I finished by adding a single copper Star Designer Element to the top of the tree. I love how it coordinates with the star-patterned DSP!
Recessed Pines Countdown To Christmas Cards
When you select my 12-Card In The Pines Class Kit, you'll create 12 cards, 4 each of 3 styles. These are the 4 recessed pines cards featured in the kit. I used the same basic layout as the 5-Card LIVE Class Kit, and I went with a more traditional Christmas color palette using the 'Tis The Season 6×6" Designer Series Paper Pack. You'll be able to mix & match the papers to customize the look that you like best!
Background Basics—All of the cards begin with a Shaded Spruce card base. I selected my favorite combinations of contrasting 'Tis The Season DSP for each of the cards just to give stampers an idea of the fun they can have experimenting with the papers! I provide two Green Foil and two Red Foil strips to give the backgrounds a finished look.
Pretty Pine—The die-cut pine image for these cards are in Whisper White and layered onto Shaded Spruce. I stamped the greeting in Cherry Cobbler and added a simple Linen Thread bow to finish the tree.
More Cool—Here's another example of a fun combination of 'Tis The Season papers, this time finished with Red Foil trim. Have fun playing with the papers!
