Foxy Friends Double-Z Side Pull Card

I had so much fun creating the cute critters for my Foxy Friends class! There were so many creatures to choose from, but I knew I had to start with the classic fox. The other thing I love about this class is that every card has a fun, non-traditional way of opening. I love how that kicks up the "too cool" factor! This first card features an awesome Double-Z fold—one of my favorites!

The card pulls open to create a simplified pop-up that's much easier to create than it appears!

Background Basics—I started with a Basic Gray card base that's 5-1/2" x 4-1/4". The folded part of the card starts with a 9-3/4" x 4" piece of Smoky Slate. Here are a couple of template photos that I shared for another project to show you how you cut & score it:

Using the Stampin' Trimmer, line the 4" side up with the 1" mark on your cutter, then cut from the 3" mark to the 7-1/2" mark, as shown in the photo.

Rotate the card 90°. Using the Stampin' Trimmer score blade or the Simply Scored platform, score at the 3" mark down to the cut line, at the 5-1/4" mark all the way down, and at the 7-1/2" from the cut line to the bottom. The first score line and the bottom of the second score line will be a "mountain" fold. The top of the second score line and the third score line will be "valley" folds. Adhere the folded piece to the card base with Fast Fuse or Tear & Tape Adhesive for a secure hold. Decorate!

Background Scene—I created a background by layering a 2-5/8" square of Whisper White onto a 2-3/4" square piece of Pool Party card stock. I stamped a couple of the Foxy Friends mushrooms along the bottom with Pool Party ink. Next, I stamped the Foxy Friends tree in Pear Pizzazz ink onto Whisper White card stock and die-cut the tree with the coordinating Perfect Pines Framelits. It's adhered to the card with SNAIL.

Fantastic Fox—If you have the bundle, there are lots of options to make the characters by simply stamping them, or by making them with punch art. Two of our class cards characters are made with stamping and two with punching, so you can get a feel for both. I punched out this fox from Calypso Coral card stock for the head, body & tail, and again from Whisper White for the face, chest & tip of the tail. The white chest piece is actually the tail piece cut down by hand.

Before assembling the fox with SNAIL, I stamped the face and added some front legs with Memento Black Ink. The whole fox is popped up with Dimensionals.

Finishing Touches—I added a 5" x 3/4" strip of A Little Foxy DSP along the bottom panel of the card front, then added a White Baker's Twine bow with a Glue Dot.

Inside Décor—I added more A Little Foxy DSP along the bottom of the inside, too. Each panel has a 2" x 3/4" piece of DSP. I stamped more mushrooms along the bottom of a 4-1/4" x 2-3/4" piece of Whisper White for the inside panel.

Sweet Sentiment—The Foxy Friends stamp set does not come with any sentiments, so I designed the cards to be used with sentiments that you may already have on hand. I chose to use the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set for all of my sentiments, and this one is stamped in Memento Black Ink.

Complete Supplies List—"Clear" means a rubber stamp on a clear block. "Photopolymer" is see-thru.
