Hi Stamping Friends,
I'm always on the lookout for cute little party favors that are quick and easy to make. Recently, I discovered a fun new triangular treat box that can be quickly assembled with the help of the Pyramid Pals Thinlits dies—Mini Piñatas! Check them out!
It's My Party Mini Piñatas—Oh my goodness! These boxes are so adorable! I love that they look like little party hats. You just pull the string and the bottom pops out, releasing the contents like a piñata! So much fun!
Make Your Own! I CASEd this idea from a Artisan Design Team Member Sue Plote posted on the Stampin' Up! website. She already has a handy pictorial for assembling the boxes, just click the link above to see it. Here are the basics:
Piñata Box Basics—I started by die-cutting two sides of the box with the Pyramid Pals Thinlits using the fun patterned papers from It's My Party Designer Series Paper Stack. Before assembling, I used the 1-3/8" Circle Punch to punch a circle into the bottom panels of each side.
Alignment TIP: Getting those bottom circles lined up is a little tricky. To make it easier, I punched a 1-3/8" Circle from a sticky note and position it where I wanted the hole to be cut on the bottom panel of the first side, then used it as a guide for punching the circle. Then, I laid the punched bottom over the second bottom panel and positioned the sticky circle inside the hole. Then, I could position the punch over that circle on the second panel for perfect alignment.
I adhered the bottoms together with Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Assembling The Box—Add Tear & Tape Adhesive to the tabs on the sides of the box. Assemble the pyramid leaving an opening door that is a side with NO tabs. TIP: I found that it was much easier for the final side to have NO tabs. If the final side has tabs, it's pretty tricky to then tuck those tabs into the box when there is sticky adhesive on them.
Pull Tab—Punch a 2" Circle with coordinating It's My Party DSP, and punch a hole in the center with the 1/8" Hole Punch. Thread a 12" piece of Melon Mambo or Mint Macaron Baker's Twine through the hole and tape it into place on the back side. Lay the circle tab inside the box with the string hanging through the bottom. Add some small candies, balloons or confetti, then close up the box.
Sweet Balloon Sentiment—I stamped the Party Wishes greeting in Archival Black Ink onto either Mint Macaron, Melon Mambo or Crushed Curry card stock, then used the Balloon Bouquet Punch to punch it out. The pull thread is attached to the back of the balloon with Dimensionals, then it's adhered to the front of the box.
Tassel Top—I used the fringe die from the Pyramid Pals Thinlits to cut the tassels from Mint Macaron, Melon Mambo or Crushed Curry card stock. I added Tear & Tape along the edge of the fringe, then rolled it up to make the tassel. I used a Bone Folder to curl the ends of the fringe to make it more fluffy. It's adhered to the top of the box with a Glue Dot.
