Jar of Tranquil Tulips Birthday Card
Our swap theme was to create a fresh color combination using one or more of the 2017-2019 In Colors, along with colors from other color collections! I chose to feature Fresh Fig, surrounding it with a variety of warm colors, and I knew the Tranquil Tulips host exclusive set would showcase all the colors wonderfully!
Background Basics—I started with a 4" x 5-1/4" layer of Whisper White card stock and adhered a 4" x 1-1/4" piece of woodgrain paper from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack. In order to find the correct positioning, I die-cut the Everyday Jars Framelits shape from Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper, laid it onto the background and marked the background on both sides of the jar opening with a pencil. You could also use a Paper Piercer to make a couple hole just under the DSP edge.
Stamped Stems—I stamped the Tranquil Tulips stem trio image first in Old Olive ink, then added two more stems and a few leaves, all coming up between my two markings.
Terrific Tulips—Two of the flowers, Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum, are stamped directly onto the background. Three of the flowers, Fresh Fig, Rose Red and Calypso Coral, are stamped onto scrap, hand-cut and popped up with Dimensionals. For each flower, I stamped the larger flower image first, then stamped the smaller image in the same color over the top, then finished it by adding the stamens in Soft Suede. The images are so easy to line up with the see-thru photopolymer stamps!
After everything was stamped, I adhered the background to a Fresh Fig card base.
Finishing Touches—I added a few Pearl Jewels floating around the flowers…so pretty! After securing the jar into position with SNAIL, I tied a double Linen Thread bow that I adhered with a Glue Dot.
Sweet Sentiment—I finished by adding a sentiment from Sweet Cupcake in Fresh Fig ink onto a 1/2" strip of Whisper White. I fishtailed the ends with my super-sharp Paper Snips, then popped it up with Dimensionals.
What, No Two Cool?—Geesh…I feel like such a slacker! I usually create TWO cool versions of the cards I make, but on this day, I just wasn't feeling it. Oh well! <shrugs>
