September Countdown To Christmas: Your Presents Card #2

We’ll be creating 12 cards for each Countdown To Christmas class—6 each of 2 styles.  Our first class of the Countdown series features the fun & versatile Your Presents stamp set.  You can see the details on the first card design at my previous post: Candy Striped Your Presents Cards.

Today, I’m showcasing the second set of cards from the kit, and like the first set, you can change up the basic elements very easily for lots of different variations!  Let’s take a closer look…

Background Basics: Each of the cards in our Your Presents kit has accent layers created with the gorgeous new Holiday Fancy Foil Vellum.  I used the candy cane stripes on the first card design, and I used the other two vellum styles on this set of six.  The green tree vellum measures 4″ x 5-1/4″ and is adhere to the Whisper White card base with SNAIL.

TIP: When adhering vellum, try to add the adhesive to areas that will be covered by other elements so the adhesive doesn’t show through. In this case, I added the SNAIL in the center area that would go under the embossed layer.

Dotted Embossed Layer—I embossed the 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ Whisper White layer with the Decorative Dots Texture Impressions Folder, then wrapped some 1/8″ Striped Ribbon around the layer before adhering it to the card base.  You’ll receive a half pack of the red & green 1/8″ Striped Ribbon in your kit.

Presents Focal Point—Now the fun part!  Deciding which sizes of presents and which colors of presents to feature as the focal point!  I stamped the smaller gift in Cucumber Crush and the larger gift in Island Indigo and cut them out by hand with Paper Snips.  Before adhering to the Whisper White Lots of Layers die-cut with Dimensionals, I stamped the gift bows in Cherry Cobbler onto the label.  I topped the gifts with a Rhinestone Jewel.

NEW Christmas Sentiments—Instead of stamping a sentiment, I die-cut one with the new Christmas Greetings Thinlits in Cherry Cobbler card stock. 

NEW Precision Plate—Die-cutting these intricate dies is easier than ever before with the new Precision Plate cutting pad in the Holiday Catalog.  You’ll definitely want to have one of these for quick, clean cuts without using wax or dryer sheets.

NEW Fine-Tip Glue Pen—I attached the Christmas Greetings die-cut with the new Fine-Tip Glue Pen, which allows you to easily add a super-fine line of glue to the thin lines of these words. You’re going to LOVE this awesome new precision adhesive tool!

Vellum Variations—Three of the cards from my set of 6 feature the vellum with the foil trees and 3 feature the silver snowflakes.  You’ll be able to choose which backgrounds to use, because you’ll receive a half pack of the Holidays Fancy Foil Vellum in your kit!  Plus, you’ll have lots of vellum left over to use on your own holiday projects!

Two Cool—On my second version, I used the snowflake Holiday Fancy Foil Vellum and wrapped my striped ribbon around the entire card front.  My presents are stamped in Pool Party for the small gift and Crushed Cucumber for the large one.  I chose the “jolly” die-cut from the Christmas Greeting set and let the word overlap the presents for a different look.

Three Cool—On my third version, I stamped the gifts in Pear Pizzazz and Island Indigo and changed the positioning of the ribbon.

Joy Sentiment—I also shortened the “jolly” die-cut word down to “joy!”  Too Cool!  You could also turn that “y” upside-down to create the word “holly” or die-cut several of them to cut down to make the phrase “ho ho ho.”  Can you find other words?

Four Cool—Another card with the trees foil and an overlapped sentiment on Pear Pizzazz and Cucumber Crush gifts.

Five Cool—I moved the Pear Pizzazz and Island Indigo presents over the right on this one and tied the ribbon into a double-knot ribbon accent.

Six Cool—On my final card, I decorated the bottom present with a simple knot-bow with the striped ribbon and adhered it with a Glue Dot.
