Big On Birthdays Fabulous Foil Cards

If you're looking for a card that is simple, yet stunning, easy, yet elegant…this is it! The big, bold sentiment combined with the shiny metallic background and accents makes for a fabulous card! As is the case for so many cards, photos of these cards do not do these project justice!

Fabulous Foil—Have you tried the Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate Sheets? They are on page 175 of the current Annual Catalog, and somehow I kept forgetting to order them. When I finally tried them out…WOW! They are awesome! Each window sheet has an elegant pattern that is silver on one side and gold on the other, allowing you to create a sensational overlay for card backgrounds. They would be awesome for making little boxes, too!

Background Basics—I adhered a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of the polka dotted Fabulous Foil, gold side up, to an Elegant Eggplant card base using some Tear & Tape adhesive in the center of the card. Since the sheet is see-thru, you have to be careful where you place your adhesive. It helps to have a large element over the top to hide that adhesive.

Elegant Embossing—Before heat embossing, I rubbed my Embossing Buddy over the 4" x 2-3/4" piece of Elegant Eggplant card stock to absorb finger oils and remove any static. Then, I stamped the Big on Birthdays sentiment in VersaMark ink and sprinkled on Gold Embossing Powder. I heated it up with the Heat Tool until glossy & smooth. After matting it onto a 4-1/4" x 3" piece of Gold Foil, I popped up the layer with Dimensionals.

TIP: The Big On Birthdays greeting is originally part of a larger image with flowers, but I cut it apart with my super-sharp Paper Snips to make it more versatile!

Finishing Touches—I added three Gold Sequin Trim accents with Glue Dots to finish the card!

Two Cool—I used a different Fabulous Foil Acetate pattern on the second card, flipping it over to the silver side! It's adhered to a Night of Navy card base.
