Birthday Bloom With Gold Accents Card
I love those Expressions Natural Elements wooden words so much, I just knew that I had to feature them on another project before they retired. Especially since I recently saw how AWESOME they looked with the Gold Wink of Stella painted on the top (thanks, Michelle Hoover)! Let's take a closer look…
Background Basics—I started by adhering a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of the retiring polka dot Gold Fancy Foil Vellum to a 3-3/4" x 5" Very Vanilla foundation. I put lots of SNAIL where the vellum would be covered by the banner, then added some dabs of SNAIL behind the rest of the dots to keep the vellum secure with the bluish adhesive showing through. After tying some of the retiring Gold Baker's Twine around that layer, I adhered it to a Calypso Coral card base.
Watercolored Bloom—I stamped the single flower from Birthday Blooms stamp set in Archival Black Ink onto Very Vanilla card stock, then die-cut it with the Banners Framelits. I used an Aqua Painter and Ink Pads to add Calypso Coral & Watermelon Wonder to the flower and Old Olive to the stem & leaves.
Banner Mat—Die-cutting the next largest Banner Framelits size left a border that was a little too wide for my taste. Instead, I adhered the Very Vanilla banner to Basic Black card stock and hand-cut around the shape. It was popped up on the card front with Dimensionals.
Gold Sparkly Elements—My hands-down favorite part of this card is the Expressions Natural Elements wood greeting that shimmers in golden goodness! I simply brushed on the Gold Wink of Stella glimmer, then attached it to the banner with the Fine-Tip Glue Pen. You should see that gold shine in real life! Click the photo to enlarge it! Seriously—do it! Too Cool!
Two Cool—I tried a second card with a Rose Red card base and different greeting.
Rose Bloom—This time, I used Rose Red & Rich Razzleberry inks to watercolor the flower. Can you see that I also dotted some Gold Wink of Stella on the flower center, too? So sweet!
