So grateful pizzazz - two cool

One of the cards we'll be creating at my "Last Thursdays" class is this pretty design featuring the So Very Grateful stamp set.  I've noticed that line image stamps are making a comeback, so there are many more opportunities to color.  I LOVE coloring!

And, speaking of making a comeback, I think the floral designs in this set are very reminiscent of the look of tole painting that was very popular a back in the 80s and early 90s…

Here is a collage of tole painting samples I found.  See what I mean?  The So Very Grateful stamps definitely have a retro, folksy feel, and I'm diggin' it!

So grateful pizzazz - thank you

Inspired by Lynn Kolcun at Avery's Owlery.

Embossed Card Base—I started by embossing a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of Pear Pizzazz card stock with the Fancy Fan Folder, then layering it on a Basic Black card base.

I wrapped some 1/8" Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon around the card front and tied & trimmed it for a faux bow embellishment.

So grateful pizzazz - thank you2

Embossed Image—I stamped my floral image onto Whisper White card stock with VersaMark clear ink, then sprinkled Black Embossing Powder over the top and heated it up until smooth & glossy.  TIP: Don't forget to use the Embossing Buddy anti-static pad over your card stock before stamping, so you won't have residual powders sticking where they shouldn't.

Coloring With A Blender Pen—I used my ink pads as palettes for "painting" with my Blender Pen.  Squeeze the pad before opening to transfer some ink to the lid, then use the Blender Pen like a paint brush to pick up and "paint" on the image.  I used Strawberry Slush, Daffodil Delight, Coastal Cabana and Pear Pizzazz inks.

TIP: I like to start by coloring in the entire flower or leaf with color, then I go back and add more layers of color for shading, like I did on the rose images.

So grateful pizzazz - thank you3

Focal Point Layering & Piercing—Once I was done coloring, I die-cut my design with the Ovals Collection Framelits, then layered it on a Labels Collection Framelit die-cut in Basic Black.  If you look closely, you can see that I also used the Festive Paper Piercing Template Pack to add some pierced dots around the Label Framelit frame.  The whole thing is popped up with Dimensionals.

Sentiment—I stamped the "thank you" in Strawberry Slush, then used the Bitty Banners Framelits to die-cut the shape perfectly.

So grateful pizzazz - giving

On my second card, I used the Woodgrain Embossing Folder, which I felt really enhanced the folk art look!

I colored with the same colors, but varied the colors on the different types of flowers.

The other sentiment in the set also fits perfectly in the Bitty Banners Framelits.

I tried piercing with the oval shape from the Occasions Template Pack this time, and I found that either template (label or oval shape) works great!
