Last thurs - four cool

Cards we're creating at my January 30, "Last Thursdays" class.

Last Thursdays - logoHi Stamping Friends!

In case you missed it, I did a quick blog post late yesterday about my "Last Thursdays" monthly card class, coming up tomorrow.  I'd love for you to join us!  Please RSVP by today at 8pm.  See all the details!

Today, I'm featuring my favorite of the cards we'll be creating!

Pink golden - two cool

Ever since I saw this card presented at Leadership, I knew it would have to be one of this month's cards. So soft & pretty!  It was shared by Brandi Barnard as an example of the trend of gold accents!  And, it's definitely the gold accents that make it so special!

Pink golden - thanks

Take a look at the simple combination of gorgeous elements!

Background Basics—I started with a card base in Pink Pirourette, then added a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of the Gold Fancy Foil Vellum with the diagonal stripes.  I think Brandi's card may have had the vellum completely cover the front of the card, but I made this piece 4" wide so I could get more cards out of one Fancy Foil Vellum sheet.  I also like the "frame" it creates around the edge.

To adhere the vellum, I used Glue Dots, but you could also use SNAIL or Sticky Strip. The key is to only adhere the vellum where it will eventually be covered by the medallion focal point.

Pink golden - thanks 2

Medallion Layers—I layered a Tea Lace Paper Doily on top of the vellum with SNAIL…now it's starting to look like a Valentine card!  Then I made a Whisper White die-cut layer with the Labels Collection Framelits and popped that up with Dimensionals.

Pink golden - thanks 3

Butterfly—I punched the Elegant Butterfly out of the Gold Foil Paper, then popped it up with Dimensionals and added some Pearl Jewels accents.  The wings were softly curled with my fingers.

Sentiment—I used the greeting from the So Very Grateful stamp set, inked with Blushing Bride ink. The ink doesn't exactly match <gasp>, but it was a little more readable than Pink Pirouette.  The sentiment was die-cut with the Bitty Banners Framelits and also popped up.

Pink golden - birthday

The design looks great going vertical, too!  Same elements, just used the birthday greeting from Itty Bitty Banners stamp set.

The Pink Pirouette color really would make a fabulous Valentine.  Or, experiment with other fun colors!  Gold goes with anything!
