Hi Stamping Friends!
Houses are selling like crazy in our neighborhood this year! We've had 5 new families move onto our street alone over the course of just a few weeks. As soon as I saw the new Home Life stamp set in the 2017 Annual Catalog, I knew that it would be the perfect way to help me introduce myself and provide a warm welcome to our new neighbors!
Today, I'm sharing the cards I created for them. I had so much fun with these three-step stamping cards that I thought it would be fun to make them at our "Last Thursdays" class this week!

Home Life Three-Step Stamping Cards
I love the beautifully colored floral pattern on the house featured in the Home Life stamp set. The best part is that you can achieve this full-color look without a bunch of coloring…it's just 3 simple steps!
Three-Step Stamping—The trick to this multicolor image is three-step stamping and the see-thru photopolymer stamps make it possible! First, ink up and stamp the large flowers stamp, then ink the small flowers in another color and stamp, and finish up by inking up and stamping the leaves. Too Cool!
Background Basics—The Diagonal Stripe background stamp provides a subtle background pattern that frames the home nicely. I laid the stamp rubber-side-up on the table, inked it up with clear VersaMark Ink, then positioned my Pool Party card base on top of the stamp. Holding the card in place, I carefully burnished over the entire card to transfer the ink.
I created a foundation for my house by layering a 3-1/2" x 4-1/2" panel of Wisteria Wonder onto a 3-5/8" x 4-5/8" layer of Whisper White, then mounting it with SNAIL adhesive onto the card base.
Floral Home—I stamped the Home Life 3-step house onto a piece of Whisper White using Pool Party for the large flowers layer, Wisteria Wonder for the small flowers and Wild Wasabi for the leaves. Once it was all stamped, I die-cut the house shape using the Welcome Home Framelits.
3-Step Stamping Alignment TIPS:
- The stamps are designed with a tab at the top to help you position the stamps correctly, but I found that this tab usually got some ink on it that transferred to the card stock. I recommend either wiping this tab off before stamping or physically cutting off the tab.
- Start with the large flowers first; it makes it easier to line up subsequent layers.
- Try stamping the layers on scrap paper first to give yourself some practice lining the layers up.
- Stand up and directly over the stamp when lining them up. It really helps to look straight down on the stamp.
- Align the edges of the image, rather than the center. Position the top of the stamp first, correct the positioning of the bottom, double-check the top, then stamp.
Popped Up Flowers—The coordinating Welcome Home Framelits offer another fun and easy technique. If you stamp the larger flowers stamp again on scrap paper, you can use one of the dies to cut out some of the flowers from the house shape to pop up! There are also dies to create cute little "housewarming" plants!
I popped up the Pool Party flower die-cuts with Dimensionals and the new Mini Dimensionals, then added some Pearl Jewels to the flower centers.
Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Home Life banner outline image in Memento Black ink onto Whisper White, then added a greeting in Wild Wasabi ink. It's also popped up with Dimensionals. I finished by adhering a small White Baker's Twine bow to the banner with a pinched Glue Dot.
The sentiments are more versatile then they appear at first glance. The coordinating phrases work for new neighbors, new home owners, new parents, and even newlyweds!
Bundle It & Save—Purchase the Home Life stamp set and Welcome Home Framelits together in a Bundle to save 10% off the cost of purchasing them separately.
Two Cool—I changed up the color combination on my second card using Lemon Lime Twist for the card base. This is the one we'll be creating at the "Last Thursdays" card class.
Focal Point—I stamped the larger flowers in Peekaboo Peach, the smaller flowers in Wisteria Wonder and the leaves in Lemon Lime Twist. I topped the popped up flowers with Rhinestones this time, and moved the twine bow to the chimney. This color combo really pops! Love it!
