“Last Thursdays” Vintage Textured Trees Card

Current Classes & Special Promotions!

Hi Stamping Friends!

This Thursday, it's all about holiday cards at my "Last Thursdays" monthly card class!

We'll be creating a lovely collection of wintery cards, but because the colors are non-traditional and the stamps more neutral (i.e. not as Christmas-focused), these card designs could also be used for birthdays, thank you and thinking of your cards, too!  How versatile!

Textured trees - two cool

I've been having so much fun with images from the Festival of Trees stamps & punch bundle, but you can create cards that are just as festive with the Tree Punch alone!  This card, originally created by Lyssa Zwolanek, is certainly proof of that!

CASEd from Lyssa Zwolanek at Song of My Heart Stampers.

Background Basics—This sweet card starts with a Crumb Cake card base.  The background layer measures 5-1/4" x 4" and is embossed with the new Filigree Frame Textured Impressions Folder.  My first card, I flipped this layer so that my embossing was indented instead of raised.  I really like that side!

Tree Trio Layer—The background for the focal point is a 4" x 2-3/4" piece of Very Vanilla card stock layered onto a 4-1/4" x 3" piece of Crumb Cake.  After this layer is stamped, I attached it with Dimensionals to the card front.

Typeset Tree—The tree in the back is punched on the diagonal with the Tree Punch from Typeset Designer Series Paper.  It's adhered with SNAIL.

Baroque Tree—I punched another tree shape from Very Vanilla card stock, embossed it with the Beautifully Baroque embossing folder, then sponged the raised texture with Crumb Cake Ink.  It's adhered to the card front with Dimensionals.

Burlap Tree—The burlap is too thick to be punched with the Tree Punch (don't even try it or you could break your punch!).  To get this shape, I used a Tree punch-out as a template.  Simply lay it on top of the Burlap Ribbon and cut around it with the super-sharp Paper Snips.

I folded a small piece of Very Vanilla Seam Binding and used a Paper Piercer to poke a hole through it for the Silver Mini Brad to go through.  There's a Frosted Sequins snowflake under the brad and the brad goes through both of the ribbons.  Adhere this fabric tree with Multipurpose Adhesive.

Sweet Sentiment—I used the Endless Wishes photopolymer stamp set for the greeting.  This word set has so many options!  Mix & match the words for a fun & festive phrase.  I stamped the large, cursive word on the background with Memento Black Ink.  The other words were stamped on scrap Very Vanilla, then hand-trimmed in a very "non-exact" way.  Each of the smaller words are popped with Dimensionals.

I tried a different phrase form my second card.  It wasn't as long, so I also added an Endless Wishes snowflake to take up some of the space.
