Hi Stamping Friends!

I've been seeing the fun Eclipse technique all over the internet and I finally tried it out myself!  So much fun!  We'll be playing with this Too Cool technique at tomorrow's "Last Thursdays" monthly card class here in Fort Wayne, IN.  If you're in the area, I hope you can join us!  Bring a new stamping friend and you'll both receive a gift!

Vintage Leaves Fall Eclipse - two cool

Vintage Leaves Fall Eclipse Cards

Have you tried the Eclipse technique?  Most of these cards feature some kind of randomly stamped background with a word die-cut with the Large Letters Framelits and either stacked or popped up for a cool 3D effect!  Sometimes it's difficult to see the word in a photograph, but when the card's in your hand, you can see the depth and lettering perfectly.  It's Too Cool!

Lovely Leaves Background—I randomly stamped the 5" x 3-3/4" Whisper White background with Vintage Leaves images in three autumn colors: the maple leaf in Fresh Fig, the oak leaf in Cajun Craze and the Aspen leaf in Pear Pizzazz.

Fall Die-Cuts & Background Layers—I used the Large Letters Framelits to cut the letters from the stamped background. Since there is only one "L," you need to run that die through a second time for the second letter.  I layered the background onto a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of Fresh Fig, then mounted that onto a Whisper White card base.  I tied a couple strands of the Burlap Ribbon thread around the entire card front, tying it into a bow.

Eclipse Letters—I popped up the die-cut letters using pieces of the Foam Strips Adhesive.  Those strips are the perfect width to fit on the thin letter shapes.  TIP: Before adhering the "A", you'll want to lay the letter in the window and use it for placement of the center (negative space) of the letter.  Once that is adhered, you can pop up the rest of the letter.

Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the "happy" word from Number of Years stamp set in Fresh Fig ink onto a 1/2" strip of Whisper White.  After fish-tailing one end, I adhered it over the "L" letters and added a couple Rhinestone Jewels.

Two Cool—For my second version, I stamped the Vintage Leaves in Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Old Olive and Soft Suede.

Sentiment—I added the Sunshine Sayings phrase under the eclipse letters, stamping it in Cajun Craze ink.
