CASEd from Sandy Mathis at Stamp With Sandy.
You're A Classic Guy Greetings Cards—We'll be making two masculine cards at my "Last Thursdays" class this week, and both can be used for either Father's Day or a birthday. Today's designs are one of the projects we'll be making, and it features the awesome all-guy stamp set called Guy Greetings! This one is certainly a must-have for your stamp collection!
Background Basics—This card has a lot of layers, beginning with a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Very Vanilla that's stamped with a Guy Greetings sentiment in Memento Black Ink. That layer is then matted onto a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Crumb Cake card stock, which has had its edges roughed up with either a retired Distress Tool, or the edge of the blades on the super-share Paper Snips (be extremely careful with this option!). Both are adhered to a Basic Black card base.
Next, I added a 3-3/4" x 1-1/4" Crumb Cake layer across the top portion of the card front with SNAIL.
Brayered Banner—I LOVE the altered banner that I created with a 1" x 3-3/4" piece of the retiring Typeset Designer Series Paper. Did you recognize it? I used the retiring rubber Brayer to roll on some Crumb Cake ink. Wow! The result is so fabulous…it makes me wonder why I had never thought to alter this cool paper this way before! Now, it's about to be gone! <sigh>
I layered the newsprint banner over a 1-1/4" x 4-1/4" Basic Black banner. Both are fishtailed with Paper Snips, but you could also use the Triple Banner Punch for the same effect.
Classic Focal Point—I stamped the classic car from the Guy Greetings stamp set two times onto scrap Very Vanilla card stock with Memento Black Ink. I punched one of the images with the retiring 2-1/2" Circle Punch and hand-cut the other car with my Paper Snips.
I used a Blender Pen and Crumb Cake ink to add some shading along the ground under the car on the punched image, then added some color to the hand-cut car as well. I popped both the car and the circle with Dimensionals onto the card front.
Finishing Touches—I added a retiring Gold Basic Metal Button with a Glue Dot. It's not really tied with Linen Thread first, because the button wouldn't lay as flat. Instead, I tied a simple knot into the thread and used a Glue Dot to attach it to the top of the button. Tricky trickster!
Two Cool—For my second version, I played with the retiring Lost Lagoon ink. I'm having a difficult time letting go of this amazing color. <sadface>
Amazing Accents—Ahhhh! Look at that Lost Lagoon on the Typeset DSP! LOVE! I so wish I would have discovered this look sooner! I added a Silver Basic Metal Button to this one, and knotted a retiring Mint Macaron two-toned Baker's Twine on the top. It doesn't exactly match, but it's a "close enough" add-on.
Inside The Card—Guy Greetings has great phrases for card fronts and inside the card. I stamped "To A Classic" on the insides of these cards…PERFECT!
Complete Supplies List—"Clear" means a rubber stamp on a clear block. "Photopolymer" is see-thru.
- Stamps—Guy Greetings (clear, wood, photopolymer)
- Ink—Memento Black Ink; Crumb Cake (card #1), retiring Lost Lagoon (card #2) Classic Ink
