Today's projects kind of remind me of those optical illusions where the featured part doesn't appear to be the same color. But, yes, the leaf and the strip on the poinsettia card are from the same paper!
I brought out the Cajun Craze and Early Espresso colors on this autumn card. The Very Vanilla background is embossed with the Modern Mosaics Folder.
I die-cut the leaf with the Autumn Accents Bigz Die for the focal point. A 1/4" strip of Champagne Glimmer Paper brings out the beautiful gold embossing highlights and the Cajun Craze Regals Candy Dots bring another pop of color.
Step-by-Step Faux Patina Recipe:
- Ink Woodgrain Impressions Folder with Crumb Cake ink, and emboss Very Vanilla card stock.
- Sponge on Crisp Cantaloupe Ink
- Sponge on Cajun Craze Ink
- Sponge on Cherry Cobbler Ink
- Sponge on Early Espresso Ink
- Stamp the medium splotchy images from Gorgeous Grunge (wood) stamp set with VersaMark Ink over entire piece.
- Sprinkle on Gold Embossing Powder and heat with a Heat Tool until glossy and smooth

I finished off the card with a Lots of Thanks (wood) sentiment, colored with Cajun Craze and Early Espresso Markers on Very Vanilla. It's die-cut with a Chalk Talk Framelit, then I cut one end off to make it flush before popping it up with Dimensionals.
On the second card, I brought out the Cherry Cobbler color highlights of the paper for a holiday card. Two completely different seasons from one sheet of Faux Patina backgroung—Too Cool!
I gold embossed the poinsettia from the Joyful Christmas (wood) stamp set twice, then hand-cut the two sizes of layers. Both are adhered with Dimensionals, then I colored in the berries with the Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details glitter glue. Perfect!
I love the look of the splotches on the woodgrain texture! Like metallic water drops! I layered my 1" wide piece on a 1-1/4" piece of Soft Suede, but looking at it now, I should have used some Gold Foil!!! Duh!
