Karin’s Waterside Retreat Fishy Birthday Card

I received this cool swap card recently from Karin Braxton and I wanted to pass along the idea because it is so fun! This is a fun-fold card with a card front flap that only opens on the right-hand side.

Background Basics

Karin started with a traditional 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ Misty Moonlight card base, scored at the 4-1/4″ mark. She used her Paper Trimmer to slit the card front from the score line to the edge starting 1-1/2″ from the left edge. That smaller flap was adhered to the the inside of the card, then decorated with a 1-1/4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of fish patterned Waterside Retreat Designer Series Paper.

The remaining card flap was decorated with a 3-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ piece of wavy pattern Waterside Retreat DSP. She also added a 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ square of Misty Moonlight cardstock, adhered at a diamond-shaped angle.

Focal Point

Next, Karin die-cut a Basic White Stylish Shapes square and sponged on some Misty Moonlight along the bottom half with a Blending Brush. She stamped a Relaxing Waterside sentiment in Misty Moonlight ink on the top and adhered it on top of the diamond shape with SEAL Adhesive.

She cut one of the little fishes from the Waterside Retreat DSP and popped it up with Dimensionals on the focal point foundation. So cute!
