Hi Stamping Friends!

It's October and, after my very eventful September, I'm so ready to start getting back to my normal schedule! Yesterday, I was playing hooky from stamping one more time…

Luke-byran

Loving Me Some Luke—I ended the month by attending the Luke Bryan Farm Tour concert and it was pretty incredible!  It was the first stop on the tour and it was set up in the middle of a farm on the edge of Fort Wayne, IN.  It was quite an undertaking to get the 20,000 fans and 7000 vehicles down a two-lane, country road to enjoy the concert, but it was so fun to hear everyone singing along with him under the stars!

Kickin' The Dust Up—I'm still amazed at the logistics needed to pull off an event of this magnitude in the middle of a cornfield!  It was an all-day event just getting to and into the venue.  We felt pretty fortunate that we got out of the parking lot in just under two hours afterward.  This concert was the largest single-day event ever in our area!  Too Cool!

Needless to say, with all of the goings-on and hooky-playing, I'm still creating cards for my upcoming classes!  But today, I wanted to give you a peek at one of the cards from next week's Stamper Sampler!

Lighthearted Leaves With The Spotlight Bleaching Technique

Cool CASE—You've probably noticed that I'm loving the Lighthearted Leaves stamp set this fall.  Well, I've got another awesome project featuring that set!  I received this card, created by Kelly Acheson, at my Founder's Circle swap.  There are lots of cards using White Craft Ink or the Chalk Marker to highlight the stained glass like images, but she used bleaching and the result is incredible!  I couldn't wait to try it a my Stamper Sampler background techniques class!

Spotlight Bleaching Technique—Kelly started by stamping the Lighthearted Leaves images in VersaMark ink onto a 5" x 3-3/4" piece of Soft Suede card stock, then embossing them with Black Embossing Powder.  To get the spotlight effects, simply dip a fine-tip brush, or an old, dried out Blender pen, into fresh bleach, then paint it onto the images.  As the bleach dries, it changes the color of the card stock.

Results May Vary—You never know what color will emerge from different colors of card stock until you experiment with them.  In this case, the Soft Suede color changes to a rich yellow shade that matches perfectly with Crushed Curry.

Background Basics—The embossed and bleached layer is mounted on a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of Basic Black card stock, then adhered to a Crushed Curry card base.  What a fun and unexpected color combination!

Sweet Sentiment—Kelly stamped the phrase from Lighthearted Leaves onto a 3-1/2" x 1/2" strip of Crushed Curry, then trimmed off the end at a diagonal.  She highlighted the words with an Into The Woods Elements accent.

Layered Accents—I love the textures that Kelly added to embellish this card!  She adhered a little Venetian Crochet Trim to the back of a 4" x 1" strip of Kraft Corrugated Paper, then trimmed it to the same diagonal as the sentiment.  She also added a little shine with some loops of Gold Cording Trim under that.  So pretty!

I can't wait to share this Too Cool background technique with you next week at my Stamper Sampler Class!  A special thanks to Kelly Acheson for sharing her beautiful project with her Founder's Circle friends!
