Hi Stamping Friends!

Lilypad Lake is the epitome of summer stamp sets for me! It reminds me of my childhood summers spent at our cottage at Lake George on the Indiana/Michigan line.

I remember the blue heron named Max that liked to hang out at our dock. It also makes me think about rowing our little fishing boat several cottages down to the lilypad area, trying to avoid the big tree trunks and stumps sticking out of the water. Every weekend, I would sit on our porch swing and watch the sailboats go by. I loved the colorful sails on the catamarans and watching them ride high on one side, and sometimes tipping, on a windy day. On Saturdays, the entire lake was filled with dozens of white sails for the sailboat races. Ahhh…I sure miss hanging out on the lake.

Lilypad Lake Serene Sailboat Cards

My favorite part of this card has to be the cool die-cut water lines! It makes a pretty texture, while allowing the color of the cardstock below to peek through to represent the waves. Love it!

Delightful Die-Cut—I started by die-cutting those water lines with the Lakeside Framelits on a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Whisper White cardstock, leaving about 1" from the bottom for the sentiment.

Summer Sky—I stamped the sun outline in Daffodil Delight ink, then colored it in using the Daffodil Delight ink and a Blender Pen. You could use a Stampin' Blends marker instead, if you want. Next, I added the birds from the High Tide stamp set in Blueberry Bushel ink.

Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Lilypad Lake sentiment in Blueberry Bushel ink at the bottom of the die-cut piece, then layered it onto a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock. I wrapped some of the new Bermuda Bay Mini Striped Ribbon around the layers, securing the ends on the back with SNAIL adhesive, then mounted it all onto a Blueberry Bushel card base.

Serene Sailboats—The trio of sailboats was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a scrap of Whisper White, then colored in with Daffodil Delight, Blueberry Bushel and Lovely Lipstick Classic Inks with a Blender Pen. There's a Lakeside Framelits die that conveniently cuts the boats out, keeping two of them together and separating the third boat, so you can place them in different positions on the die-cut lake. How fun! I popped them up with Dimensionals.

Two Cool—I liked the basic design of this card, so I just swapped out some of the colors for a little different look on my second card.

Cool Coastal—I adhered the die-cut piece onto a Blueberry Bushel layer this time and tied some Blueberry Bushel 1/8" Grosgrain Ribbon around the layers. Everything is mounted onto a Coastal Cabana card base for this one.

Serene Sailing—I swapped out the Daffodil Delight with Coastal Cabana on the sails, as well. I might need to add some Wink of Stella for a little glistening on the water and the sails…what do you think?
