The Reflection or Mirror technique is so, so pretty and it is easier than ever to achieve! I love this look for sympathy or thinking of you cards, but it truly is an all-occasion style. I absolutely adore using natural images like the trees from the retiring Lovely As A Tree stamp set for this technique.
Background Basics—I started with a card base in Shimmery White cardstock for a little added sparkle and elegance. Next, I stamped the Lovely As A Tree image across the top of a 4" x 3-3/4" piece of Shimmery White cardstock.
Easy Reflection Technique—To create the mirror reflection, stamp the image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a non-porous surface. TIP: I used one of the flimsy plastic sheets that cover the images in a photopolymer stamp set. You just need one sheet, because you can wash off the stamping with tap water to use it again and again!
Reflection Transfer—Next, you'll flip the stamped plastic sheet over and position it under the original image. Lay it down, hold it in place and burnish over the entire image to transfer the image onto the cardstock. When you pull the sheet away, you'll have a beautiful, slightly lighter, mirror image!
Sponging Color—I used Sponge Daubers to add some Pear Pizzazz ink to the grass. I sponged on some Pool Party ink very lightly on the sky and again with a darker layer for the water. I adhered the stamped layer to a 4-1/4" x 4" piece of Basic Black cardstock, then tied some retiring Black Baker's Twine around the layers before mounting onto the card front with SNAIL.
Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Itty Bitty Greetings sentiment in Memento Black ink onto Shimmery White scrap and punched it with the Classic Label Punch. It's popped up onto the focal point.
Finishing Touches—I added a couple of medium size retiring Faceted Dots in black under the focal point for a little more sparkle.
Two Cool—I really love the way the horizontal version of this card turned out! I used the identical elements with just a slight change in positioning.
Here, you can see a little bit of the sparkle that shows through the ink on this pretty Shimmery White cardstock. It is so elegant in real life!
