Loyal Leaves Color Block Cards
I've always been a fan of leaf-themed stamp sets and the Loyal Leaves outline leaf images are so elegant and versatile! They are perfect for fall cards, masculine birthday cards, sympathy cards and thinking of you cards. You can also combine them with lots of cool techniques, including this fun color block background techniques!
Background Basics—I embossed a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic Black cardstock with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder, then tied some Pool Party Sheer Ribbon around it into a double-knot. It's layered onto a Basic Black card base.
Color Block Stamping—I created the color block by stamping with the "D" Acrylic Block…no stamps, just the block! First, make sure that the block is nice & clean. Then ink up the block with Pool Party ink, spritz it about 4 times with water using the Stampin' Spritzer until small pools of ink form, then "stamp" with it onto a 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" piece of Whisper White. Leave the block onto the paper, so the ink can be fully absorbed into the paper. You'll starter to see a "cracking" texture through the block, indicating that the ink is pulling away from the block and being absorbed into the cardstock. When the movement through the block stops, lift the block. Blot with tissue any excess ink that may still be pooling onto the layer.
Loyal Leaves Stamping—I stamped a Loyal Leaves sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink near the bottom of the color block, with part of it the phrase busting outside of the box border. I also added two Loyal Leaves leaf styles in Memento Black. The stamped layer is mounted onto a 3-5/8" x 3-5/8" mat in Coastal Cabana cardstock. It's popped up with Dimensionals.
Finishing Touches—I colored a few Rhinestone Jewels with a Dark Bermuda Bay Stampin' Blends Marker and floated them around the focal point.
Two Cool—I selected the Dainty Diamonds 3D Embossing Folder for the background on this second version and tied the Old Olive Ornate Garden Ribbon around the layer.
Lovely Leaves—This color block in stamped in Soft Seafoam, then stamped with the same leaves and a different sentiment, all in Memento Black ink. It's layered onto an Old Olive layer.
Finishing Touches—I colored these Rhinestone Jewels with the Dark Basic Black Stampin' Blends Markers.
