Hi Stamping Friends!
As if being able to create 66 custom sizes of envelopes wasn't enough of a reason to want the amazing Envelope Punch Board—now there are cute file folder cards, too!
Are these miniature file folders completely adorable, or what?!! Those fun, rounded corner tabs are easy to make by using the punch on your Envelope Punch Board! Too Cool!
How-To: Making File Folder Tabs
- First, decide how much of your back tab you want to show. If you use a 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" traditional card size, then only a small portion of it will show. I wanted to stagger the two sides of the card enough so that my tab was clearly visible with room for a small sentiment. I trimmed 3/4" off the card front for mine.
- TIP: If you want the tab to have designer paper on it, adhere it to the card stock edge before punching, so you won't have to trim it later.
- To punch the tab, you'll insert your card stock into the the punch so that the left edge of the card stock is flush with the left edge of punch opening. Punch!
- You can vary the size of your tabs to suit your project. I lined my newly-rounded edge with the 3" mark. Punch!
- You're card stock edge will now look like this.
- Use your Stampin' Trimmer to trim away the extra part you don't need.
- Rotate your card 180° then repeat the steps to punch the other tab.
CASEd from Catherine Pooler at Creativity Grows Here.
Background Details—I decorated my Chocolate Chip card stock base with the pretty, autumn Sweater Weather Designer Series Papers: 2-1/2" x 5-1/2" piece on the front and a 1" x 5-1/2" piece on the inside tab edge (adhere before punching the tabs!).
I added a 1/2" x 5-1/2" piece of Soft Sky embossed with the Needlepoint Border down the seam.
Blended Leaves—After die-cutting some Whisper White card stock with the Deco Labels Framelits, I stamped with the Magnificent Maple single stamp. To get the two-toned leaves, I inked first in Soft Sky, then sponged Crushed Curry ink around the edges of the rubber before stamping it.
Finishing Touches—The Lots of Thanks sentiment is stamped in Chocolate Chip ink, then surrounded by Pearl Jewels. I finished by wrapping the element with strands from the Burlap Ribbon, then popping it up with Dimensionals.
Tab Label—The Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set has the perfect size phrases to label your file folder tabs! I stamped mine in Chocolate Chip, punched it out with the Word Window Punch, then popped it with Dimensionals.
Mix & Match—It was kind of fun mixing & matching to pick out which file tab
words went with which sentiments. Lots of fun possibilities!
I finished the inside by stamping a couple more leaves.
Rather than opening from the bottom like a traditional horizontal card, this file folder card opens from the top, like…well, like a file folder!
The "celebrate" for the tab comes from the Fabulous Phrases set, another set that fits nicely in that space!
I used a sentiment from Yippee-Skippee on the focal point.
