Bye-Bye: Eastern Elegance & Trefoil Cross

Hi Stamping Friends!

Last week, I spent some time creating some commissioned cards for a local store here in Fort Wayne called Memories of You.  They were interested in some versatile, religious-themed cards that could be used for baptisms, first communions, or even graduations.  Today's projects feature one of the card styles I designed for this request.

I had a little bit of the Eastern Elegance Designer Series Paper that I was trying to use up before it retires, and I thought the colors were perfect—soft and elegant!  The patterns coordinated nicely with the design of the retiring Trefoil Cross image, too!

Trefoil cross - congrats

Background Patterns—I started by mounting a 3-3/4" x 2-1/2" piece of the Eastern Elegance paper to the top of a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock.  Then, I added the same size piece of Smoky slate card stock, which I had embossed with the Modern Mosaic Texture Impresions Folder, to the bottom.  That embossed pattern beautifully mimicks the "diamond-shaped" design in the DSP.

Before mounting onto the Bermuda Bay card base, I wrapped some 3/8" Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon around the piece to cover the paper seam and tied into a double-knot faux bow.  I'll definitely miss this taffeta ribbon…it was my plain white, go-to, easy-tie selection when I couldn't find anything else to match.

Cross Focal Point—I stamped the single-stamp Trefoil Cross in Bermuda Bay ink onto a piece of 2-1/4" x 3" Whisper White, then matted that on a 2-3/8" x 3-1/8" piece of Basic Gray card stock.  I adorned the cross with some Pearl Jewels in the center and at each point.  Lovely!  It's mounted to the card front with Dimensionals.

This is such a pretty cross…it's hard to see it go.  Fortunately, we're getting some fresh new cross designs in the upcoming catalog.  Woohoo!

Banner Sentiment—I finished the card with a generic celebratory greeting from the Itty Bitty Banners set that would work for most special religious occasions.  It's stamped in Basic Gray ink, cut with the matching Bitty Banners Framelits, and popped up with Dimensionals.

I simply switched the top and bottom backgrounds on the second version and moved the focal point to the other side.  This time, the versatile sentiment comes from the soon-to-retire Express Yourself Hostess stamp set.
