In this LIVE Class, I feature the Merriest Trees Bundle and coordinating Walk In The Forest Designer Series Paper. At first glance, you may think this stamp set is limited to one single large tree, but the Merriest Trees Dies allow that tree to be cut into 5 different sizes of trees! The bundle also offers a variety of ways to decorate both the tree and under the tree! There are ornaments, garland, stars, snowflakes, gifts and bows. There’s even a nice size tag that is the perfect accent for any gift packaging! Special note about the Walk In The Forest DSP: Stampin’ Up! will donate $3 to Toys For Tots for every package purchased!

Merriest Trees Three Trees Cards
These Christmas tree cards were the spotlight of my Merriest Trees Class last week! Not only are the fronts decorated in a fun & festive way, but they have an unexpected vertical Z-Fold opening! Twice as cool!
Background Basics
It may look like a traditional card, but the card base actually consists of three pieces: two 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ Cherry Cobbler pieces and one 3-3/4″ x 11″ piece of Basic White that’s scored at the 5″ and 10″ marks.
I folded the Basic White piece into a “Z” shape so it created a 5″ card base with a little 1″ flap that folds back. I adhered the back of the 5″ folded card base to the center of one of the Cherry Cobbler pieces. Then, I added some adhesive to the 1″ folded back panel and carefully adhered the second card base over the top so that both the Cherry Cobbler pieces were lined up flush. The photo shows the “back” of the card opening, so you can see how that 1″ piece is mounted to the bottom of the top Cherry Cobbler piece. Confused? Watch the video linked above!
Terrific Tree & Background
First I added a 4-1/4″ x 1-1/2″ strip of Walk In The Forest to the bottom of the card front. Next, I stamped the Merriest Trees large tree image in Old Olive onto Basic White. I also stamped the shaded details image over the top in Old Olive ink for a subtle texture to the tree. I die-cut the tree with the large Merriest Trees tree die.
Next, I added a Pecan Pie Merriest Trees tree base die-cut to the bottom of a 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ piece of Basic White, then popped up the tree with Dimensionals. I stamped a few snowflake trio images in Pecan Pie ink around the top of the tree. The whole piece was layered onto a 3-5/8″ x 4-7/8″ piece of Pretty Peacock and mounted onto the card front.
Delightful Decorations & Gifts
Now for the fun! I kept the decorations fairly simple on this class kit card, but you can always add more! I started by adding some Cherry Cobbler die-cut garland to the tree with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
I stamped two present images in Cherry Cobbler and one in Pretty Peacock. I also stamped bows in Pretty Peacock and Old Olive. I die-cut the little pieces and assembled the gifts under the tree, popping up the two Cherry Cobbler gifts.
I added a Merriest Trees sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink onto a little 3/8″ strip of Crumb Cake, banner cut the end and popped it up with Mini Dimensionals.
Finally, I added five white Neutrals Sequins (oops, one fell off before the photo!) for a little shine! And, I added a Pecan Pie star on the top of the tree, too! So fun!
Inside The Card
I stamped an Old Olive Merriest Trees sentiment on the inside of the card. Some little gifts in the corner really bring the card theme together!
Two Cool
Ohhh…the second version is so wintery! I started with Balmy Blue card front and back with a different strip of Walk In The Forest DSP across the bottom to set the color combo.
The tree is once again stamped in Old Olive, but I added the detailed stamping in Garden Green to really bring out the depth of the tree. Instead of a tree base, I stamped a Pecan Pie tree trunk, since it looks like it’s outside in the snow. The snowflakes are stamped in Balmy Blue and the tree is layered once again on Pretty Peacock.
Delightful Decorations
This time I die-cut Basic White garland and strung it zig-zag across the tree. I added Soft Succulent Festive Pearls all over the tree for a lovely soft, glistening look. The top of the tree holds a Balmy Blue star.
The presents are stamped in Pretty Peacock, Balmy Blue and Garden Green and have Balmy Blue bows. The sentiment is Pretty Peacock ink on a Balmy Blue banner. I love this wonderful, wintery look!
