There's just something about a pretty deer image that makes a lovely holiday card, and I LOVE the deer image in the Merry Patterns stamp set! The focal point almost looks like a holiday ornament or even a snow globe. So fun!
Background Basics—This card begins with a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock that's been embossed with the Quilt Top Texture Impressions Folder. I used a couple strips of Tear & Tape along with SNAIL adhesive to help secure the textured paper to the Early Espresso card base. Next, I used my super-sharp Paper Snips to fishtail the end of a 2" x 5" piece of Be Merry Designer Series Paper, which is currently part of the Buy 3, Get 1 FREE DSP promotion.
Delightful Deer—I die-cut a white circle with the largest Layering Circles Framelits die, then stamped the Merry Patterns deer in the center in Soft Suede ink. I added some pine branches around the deer in Tranquil Tide ink, then mounted the circle onto a Garden Green scallop circle layer and popped up with Dimensionals onto the card front. I finished the focal point by adding a Garden Green Stitched Satin Ribbon bow to the top with a Glue Dot or two.
Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Merry Patterns sentiment in Soft Suede onto Whisper White card stock, then punched it out with the Classic Label Punch and popped it up, as well.
Two Cool—My second version starts with a Soft Suede card base and a Pinewood Planks texture embossed background. I selected a Garden Green pattern from the Be Merry DSP this time, and topped the banner with a 3/4" x 5-1/4" Tranquil Tide banner.
Fancier Focal Point—This time I stepped up the details on the card. I stamped the deer in VersaMark clear ink, then sprinkled on Gold Embossing Powder and set it with the Heat Tool until glossy & smooth. It's layered onto a Real Red scallop circle layer. I added a 1/8" Real Red bow to the top with a Glue Dot, then added a few Gold Enamel dots floating around the medallion.
