Merry Patterns Two-Step Candle Cards
It's so very easy to achieve that colorful collection of candles on this card with the two-step images in the Merry Patterns set! This is a fantastic card design for mass-producing, not only because of the simple stamping, but also because I used the budget-friendly Merry Music DSP!
Background Basics—I started by adhering a 5" x 3-3/4" piece of Merry Music Designer Series Paper to a 5-1/8" x 3-7/8" piece of Real Red. The Merry Music DSP is perfect for mass producing! The sheets are a lighter weight, yet they are still a nice quality, and you get 24 sheets—twice as many 12×12" sheets compared to a traditional DSP pack! Talk about budget-friendly!
Red Ribbon—I layered a 5" x 1-1/4" piece of Tranquil Tide card stock across the front, then tied some of the new 1/8" Real Red Ribbon around the layer into a double-knot. All of the layers are adhered to a Whisper White card base with SNAIL.
Two-Step Candles—There are four separate stamps that make up the candle image. First, I stamped the outline of the candles in Memento Black ink onto a 3-1/4"x 2-1/4" piece of Whisper White. Next, I stamped the three "front" candles in Emerald Envy ink and the three "back" candles in Real Red ink. Each trio of candles is on one stamp, so it's easy to have two colors! And, it's easy to line them all up because they are see-thru photopolymer. I finished by stamping the candle flames in Crushed Curry.
I stamped the Merry Patterns pine bough twice along the bottom of the candles to provide a nice foundation for my sentiment. This layer was matted onto a 3-3/8" x 2-3/8" piece of Emerald Envy card stock, then popped up with Dimensionals over the ribbon.
Sweet Sentiment—The sentiment is stamped in Memento Black onto Whisper White, punched out with the Classic Label Punch, then popped up with Dimensionals. So sweet and simple!
Two Cool—This time, I adhered the same Merry Music DSP onto an Old Olive layer and added 1/8" Old Olive Sheer Ribbon. It's mounted on a Basic Black card base.
Cool Candles—I stamped the "front" candles in Cherry Cobbler and the "back" candles in Old Olive. This color combination is a little more traditional than the previous version, but both are very festive!
