CASEd from Deb Valder at her Stampladee blog.
Oh my goodness! I've totally fallen in love with these adorable mini-sized coffee cups, and I'm not even a coffee drinker! Wouldn't this make the cutest little gift to go along with all of those Starbucks gift cards you'll be giving away this holiday season?! So fun!
Members of my Stamp Club, and anyone who brings a friend, will be making one of these as a bonus project tonight at my Wow Techniques Class! Too Cool!
Where Did You Get Those Cups? The cups are about the size of a Dixie cup, and they have real coffee cup lids that fit on top! I purchased them from WebRestaurantStore.com: cups & lids come separately.
Cup Wraps—Each of the cups is wrapped with Season of Style Designer Series Paper that I cut out with a template. I also added a band of Baked Brown Sugar, texture embossed with the Square Lattice Folder, around the middle to look just like a hot cup wrap!
Deb Valder has a template for the Mini Coffee Cup Wraps on her blog to help you cut them.
Make Your Own Template—Because my printer is old and weird, and I'm technologically inept, I was having trouble printing the wraps at actual size, so I created my own template by taking two of the cups apart. Here's how you can do it on your own:
- Turn your cup upside-down. Using a craft knife, carefully cut out the bottom of the cup only, leaving the sides intact.
- Once the bottom is gone, cut the cup down the side, away from the seam with scissors.
- Lay the cup out flat on a cutting mat. Using a craft knife, carefully trim away the top lip of the cup with a neat cut.
- Transfer the template onto a piece of chipboard backing that comes with the designer series papers. TIP: Extend the length of the template by about 1/8" on each side so that you have some overlap.
- You may need to trim to fit around the cup to get it perfect.
Middle Wrap Template—Use the top curve of the template you just created to draw another template for the middle wrap.
- Trace along the contour of the top curve onto chipboard.
- Move the template down about 1" and trace it again.
- Cut along your outlines and trim the ends.
Cup Labels—I made labels on the front of the cups using the two phrases from the Perfect Blend stamp set, stamped in Soft Suede. This one is layered on a Cherry Cobbler Label Bracket punch. I'd never thought of rotating the shape before, but I like the curvy part on top!
TIP: You'll want to be sure to use either Dimensionals or Sticky Strip to adhere your labels, otherwise they tend to pull away from the curve of the cup.
Don't forget to add some Rhinestones!
I adhered a Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding bow to the tops with Glue Dots to give it a finished look.
Coffee Candy! Of course, this is the best part of the Mini Coffee Cups—little coffee-flavored candies! I found these Bali's Best Coffee Candies in coffee, latte, and espresso flavors all in one big, 300-piece jar at Office Depot. You can also find them several places online: Bali's Best Coffee Candies.
