Hi Stamping Friends!

It may be Friday, but it's time for another Mojo Monday Sketch!

Mojo353
Here's is this week's Mojo Monday Sketch #353.  You still have time to play along until Sunday, July 13.

Mojo353 - two cool

I couldn't resist trying out some more coloring with Blendabilities Markers and the gorgeous Bloom With Hope Hostess set.  I love using these sketches for inspiration!  Even though I didn't create my card exactly like the sketch, I used the same basic elements in a way that worked with the stamps and papers that I wanted to use.  Let's take a closer look…

Mojo353 - birthday

Background Basics—I turned the sketch on it's side for the first card, using Blackberry Bliss for the card base.  The fun diamond-shaped pattern from the Park Lane Designer Series Paper sets the color combination for this card.

I added a strip of 5-1/4" x 1-1/4" Old Olive card stock, embossed with the Decorative Dots folder, for a contrasting element.  Along the bottom edge of that piece, I added a pretty border with the Scallop Edge Border Punch in Calypso Coral.

Mojo353 - birthday 2

Focal Point Facts—I featured the Bloom With Hope Hostess set image on the focal point, along with a Petite Pairs sentiment.  They are stamped in Memento Black Ink on a 3-1/4" x 2-1/4" piece of Whisper White, then matted onto a 3-3/4" x 2-3/4" Blackberry Bliss layer.

I played around with larger accents to represent the flower shape in the sketch, but they overwhelmed the stamped image, so I opted for a simple Baked Brown Suger Baker's Twine bow.

Mojo353 - birthday 3

Blended Blooms—The flowers are paper pieced and popped up with Dimensionals for a 3D look.  I colored the stems of the image stamped on the focal point with Old Olive Blendabilities Markers.  If you use a super-light touch with the brush tip, barely touching the paper, you can color those narrow spaces.  I colored the entire stems with the lightest color, then added just a few light touches of the darkest color for variation.

I stamped the blooms on scrap Whisper White card stock and colored those with Daffodil Delight Blendabilities Markers using the tips I shared in my previous Blendabilties post

TIP: I didn't worry about coloring outside the lines, since I would be cutting them out anyway.  In fact, it's actually preferable to do so, because then you don't have any white spaces accidently showing after your cutting.  If you do have some white left on your fussy-cut bloom, just touch up those spaces with the marker.

TIP: I highly recommend cutting with the super-sharp Paper Snips!  These are a must-have for any papercrafter!

The second version is more similar to the Mojo353 sketch.  This time, I used the Large Scallop Edgelit for my Calypso Coral border.

I also selected a different image from Bloom With Hope and another sentiment from Petite Pairs.

The flowers are colored with Rich Razzleberry and Pumpkin Pie Blendabilities Markers.  Rich Razzleberry is really a lighter version of Blackberry Bliss, so it coordinates perfectly with this card!
