Multicolor Timeless Texture Congratulations Cards
OOOoooh! I'm loving the colors on this card—they match my Too Cool Stamping logo! I created these pretty cards for my team members who have recently promoted or grown their own teams! My favorite part is the lovely multicolored flourished background…and you won't believe how easy it is to duplicate!
CASEd from Tracy May at Bedlam & Butterflies.
Background Basics—The stamped background layer is 3-5/8" x 4-7/8" Whisper White. After it's stamped, it's matted on a 3-3/4" x 5" Rich Razzleberry layer, then adhered to an Island Indigo card base. But let's take a closer look at that stamped flourish!
Multicolored Inking—I wanted the Timeless Textures flourish to have several blended colors on it and I initially tried to achieve that look by sponging on color with Sponge Daubers. I wasn't getting the rich, dark color that I wanted, however, and it took a long time to dab on the color, and clean the stamp in between each stamping. I was making a whole stack of these cards, so I wanted something that was FAST!
Baby Wipe Ink Pad—I decided to make my own multicolor ink pad using baby wipes! I layered two baby wipes and folded them up to fit inside a small stamp case that I could re-seal later to keep the ink fresh. Then I added 3-5 drops of several colors of refill ink: Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay & Island Indigo. TIP: You want to fill in all the white spaces on the baby wipe, but be careful not to over-ink it or the colors will become very muddy.
Once my ink pad was created, I simply inked and stamped over and over again without needing to clean my stamp in between. The colors were nice and dark, too! The perfect solution!
I stamped the flourish three times to create the focal point foundation.
Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the greeting from the And Many More stamp set (soon to retire!) in Island Indigo on a 3" x 1/2" strip of Smoky Slate card stock that's been fish-tailed on the end. It's adhered with SNAIL.
Finishing Touches—I punched an Elegant Butterfly from Melon Mambo and popped it up with Dimensionals for a sweet, eye-catching accent. I finished up by adding a Rhinestone Jewel on the butterfly and a couple more floating around the flourish. Love it!
Two Cool—I tried a second, horizontal version using a the same elements! This card looks great in either direction!
Complete Supplies List—"Clear" means a rubber stamp on a clear block. "Photopolymer" is see-thru.
