Musical Season French Horn Class Cards
Caroling, caroling, caroling! My last Countdown To Christmas features the Musical Season stamp set and 12 beautiful music-themed cards. One of my favorite pieces in this suite of products is French horn die-cut from the Musical Instruments Framelits! We'll be creating these four French horn cards backed with the REAL sheet music patterns in the Merry Music Designer Series Paper!
Background Basics—I started these cards with a 5-1/4" x 4" pieces of Merry Music Designer Series Paper adhered to either a Cherry Cobbler or Tranquil Tide card base. These newsprint-weight sheets have real, playable sheet music of Christmas carols printed in black & white—awesome!
Layered Accents—I stamped the Musical Season foliage image in Tranquil Tide ink onto a 5-1/4" x 2-1/4" piece of Tranquil Tide card stock. I positioned the images so that they were coming from the bottom left, creating a foundation for the French horn. I tied some 1/8" Gold Ribbon around the front of the card, tying it into a double-knot.
Focal Point—The French horn is die-cut from Gold Foil with the Musical Instruments Framelits. I recommend die-cutting this shape with the help of the Precision Base Plate, as it helps keep the foil unblemished and the shape releases easier. I popped it up using some Dimensionals.

Finishing Touches—I stamped the Musical Season sentiment in Cherry Cobbler ink onto a 3-3/4" x 5/8" strip of Whisper White, snipped the ends into fishtails and popped up onto the card front, overlapping the horn just a bit. I finished by coloring a few Rhinestone Jewels with the dark Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends Marker and floating them around the horn.
Inside Décor—I LOVE the inside of this card almost as much as the outside! I stamped the foliage in Tranquil Tide, the larger sentiment in Cherry Cobbler and the drummer boy in Memento Black.
Two Cool—For the rest of the four cards, I played with pairing the Cherry Cobbler & Tranquil Tide elements with gold & silver elements—mixing & matching! Where I used Silver Foil for the French horn, I also used the matching 1/8" Silver Ribbon and plain Rhinestones.
