This May, you’re in for a treat. Paper Pumpkin has teamed up with Shelli Gardner, Stampin’ Up!’s board chair and co-founder, to deliver a very special Paper Pumpkin kit. It’s exclusive, collectible, and one-of-a-kind. Die-hard Paper Pumpkin and Stampin’ Up! fans won’t want to miss this special edition.
The look and feel of this kit is all Shelli. It’s elegant, feminine, and so full of springtime details that you’ll probably just want to take a walk, breathe in the fresh air, and then go home and stamp every card in the kit. Even the box it comes in is so, so pretty!
Soft spring colors, pretty florals and beautiful birds are the themes for the NEW Bird Ballad Suite, as well as the May Shelli Paper Pumpkin Kit! When I opened my pre-order of new catalog products this week, I was immediately drawn to this suite and knew I'd be creating with these products first!
Background Basics—I started with a Petal Pink vertically-folded card base: 4-1/4" x 11", scored at the 5-1/2" mark. I adhered a 4-1/4" x 2-1/2" piece of the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper to a 4-1/4" x 2-3/4" piece of Soft Suede cardstock, then mounted it onto the bottom of the cardstock with SNAIL Adhesive.
Texture & Trim—I stamped the little leaves image from Free As A Bird cling stamp set in Petal Pink on the top of the card front, positioned so that the leaves would peek around the edges of the focal point. Next, I tied some of the NEW Scallop Lace Trim around the card front into a double-knot and trimmed the ends.
Nested Dies—I was excited to play with the NEW Nested Stitched dies, which are the first of the brand new, non-Sizzix dies that Stampin' Up! is offering! I love the dotted border and I was happy that the dies ran through the machine smoothly and the die-cuts were clean and easy to remove. I'm loving the cool shape of these dies, too! There are 8 different sizes, along with a straight dotted border die for accents. I'm calling it another Instant Classic and a must-have for your collection!
Beautiful Birds—I stamped the Free As a Bird sentiment across the bottom of the shape in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then stamped the large bird image across the top, focusing on the three birds on the end of the branch.
I used Stampin' Blends Markers to color in the image:
- Soft Suede Duo for the branch.
- Old Olive Duo for the leaves.
- Pool Party Dark for the blossoms.
- Petal Pink Duo for the bird bodies.
- Calypso Coral Light for the bird heads.
Finishing Touches—I colored three Rhinestone Jewels with Bermuda Bay Dark Blends Markers and floated them around the background leaves.
Delightful Details—This time, I colored the birds with Pool Party Blends Makers and Light Bermuda Bay heads. The flowers are colored with Light Mango Melody to mach the flowers in the DSP. The background stamping is with Pool Party ink and the Rhinestones where colored with the Mango Melody marker.
