Springtime Foils Blends Resist Cards
The 2nd Release Springtime Foils Designer Series Papers may be my absolute favorite selection of this promotion! There are so many ways to alter it! Today, I'm sharing a fun technique called Blends Resist!
Blends Resist Technique Step 1—I started with a 4" x 4" square of the floral Springtime Foils DSP. I colored the leaves with Old Olive light Stampin' Blends Markers, then colored the flowers with Rich Razzleberry Blends in both light and dark. The glossy finish on this paper affects the blending properties of the markers, giving you a different, yet still very pretty look when shading.
Blends Resist Technique Step 2—Once the flowers are colored in, add the Classic Ink color of your choice to the background by dragging the pad over the entire Springtime Foils piece. That's right…directly over the flowers that you already colored! This works with light colors, like the Marina Mist ink I used on this project, as well as dark colors like Night of Navy or even Memento Tuxedo Black ink! The Stampin' Blends alcohol-based ink resists the water-based ink, allowing the Blends colors to shine through! Try it! It's so awesome! Wipe the entire piece with a tissue to pick up any residual ink and make the rose gold foil shine. The background colors end up much lighter than the original color.
Diagonal Background—After coloring and inking, I cut the 4" x 4" square diagonally. I lined the top of the bottom floral panel with some retired copper washi tape, but you could use a 1/4" strip of Copper Foil instead.
Next, using a 4" x 5-1/4" Whisper White piece of cardstock as a foundation, I used Dimensionals to pop up the top of the DSP at the top and the bottom section of DSP at the bottom, creating a gap in the middle. The whole background was adhered to a Marina Mist card base.
Sentiment & Finishing Touches—I stamped a Perennial Birthday sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink inside the gap. I added a Berry Burst Crinkle Ribbon bow with a Glue Dot underneath the sentiment. For the finishing touch, I colored two Pearl Jewels with the Bronze Stampin' Blends Marker, which kinda looks like copper, and adhered them on either side of the greeting. Love that little coordinating detail!
Two Cool—I did a second version with Calypso Coral flowers, covered in Pool Party ink!
This time, it's mounted onto a Bermuda Bay card base and decorated with a Bermuda Bay Shimmer Ribbon bow from the Sale-a-Bration Shimmer Ribbon Pack. The Pearl Jewel was colored with a dark Calypso Coral Stampin' Blends Marker.
